I have a set of Type 3 carbs I'd like to install on a Beetle engine. However, the cross-linkages foul on the generator stand. Has anyone come up with a quick and easy 'sticky tape and fencing wire' solution?
Suggestions welcome!

I am about to go this way myself with my beetle. Any info regarding the linkage setup would be great.

spent half the day at the Nationals taking photos of varios linkage setups.

Cheers

i sold them to one forum member a few years back who gave them to another to sell so god only knows where they are now

was all stock type3 parts cept the air cleaners
i had to swap the swivel to one from a manual, the auto one with the kickdown switch just wouldnt fit or flip upside down

i got some better pics of the setup on disc somewhere but its all pretty basic

i have a scat swivel linkage for my webers i was gonna try but something was stopping that working. like throttle plates turning wrong way or similar

The picture is in a coupe, But I am currently using it in a Beetle. The real trick is to keepthe push rods the same length.

The other trick is not to drill a hole through the oil cooler when you relocate the accelerator cable higher up the fan housing (I extended the cable with a push bike hand brake cable - held in place with a small hose clamp as it extends through the housing).

I also carry a spare generator strap, but have never needed (Ive used it in a couple of setups over the last 5 years - including twin SUs).
