i have just spent the last couple of hours trying to fit a new engine bay seal and still in the place as when i started (no seal inplace) the seal i purchased seems to be moulded wrong and no matter what i try it pops out of the channel any ideas would be great.

Try soaking it in boiling water to soften it up before trying to fit it 😉

tried that and it made it harder to put on because it was burning my hands ( ha ha ) and it made the lip even softer and popped out of the channel easier. i think it should be a straight piece of rubber so the rib can go around the curve but its a curve piece of rubber wuth the rid on the bottom of the curve if that makes sence. are the yall like that.

I just use armorall on the rubber and slide it in...

the easiest way is to use the early beetle tinware seal
its just in a long strip...
with two strips of rubber coming off it.. l< like that
one strip goes above the tinware
and the other below it...
very easy to slide into place...

did you open the start of the channel to slide it in??

I find the late model rubber very difficult to fit...
unless you cut it into 3 pieces..
two sides and a back...

best of luck

I'd say that you need to open the channel all the way and tap the lip back after seal is in the place...worked for me...

i've got the late model seal and i sprayed it with silicon spray it go in nice but when i get to the curve of the seal it pops out of the channel on the bottom side. i've tried starting in the middle at ends on the bends. if it was a straight piece it would be easy. maybe i will be better of with the older style seal do work ok with newer tin.

yeah that what it looks like but the lip that gos in the channel on yours seal seems to be on the outside of the curve which is what i would expect but if i was to laty my seal with yours the lip that gos in the channel would be sitting on the concrete.
