Anyone got a Type 3 dash pad to 1970 model. Doesn't have to be great but generally in one piece and repairable. Need the section from grab handle to fuel gauge section.

hi DH, if you have any luck with dash pads that dont suit your requirements i am chasing one for my 1970 fastback as well (mine looks like the top of a volcano) and would be happy to consider your cast offs. also chasing a card board rear parcel shelf if you know of any available.

OK. Will have a look and see what's around. Have you thought about getting the one you have re-covered? Are there any dash restorers up your way. The last one i had done here in Sydney was a shocker. That's why I'm building up a new one. When I'm ready this time I'll drive to Victoria to get it done as they seemed to have a place that was a better standard.... hope it still exists😠

there was a guy in brisbane that has done them, he didnt really want to do another one and quoted me an unrealistic price to prove it. i will keep searching as well and appreciate how rare these are becoming. a dash mat doesnt really do it for me however there isnt too many options at the moment. you are on my list if i happen to stumble across an early model for sure. thanks again.

How much did they quote? I paid around $450 for the last one about 8 years back.

Any dash from 1964 to 1971 should fit yours. I'm almost sure that it was the 72 model (Aug 1971) that went to the "C" channel to secure the front rather than the screwed tabs along the front. I'm doing a fix on the up to 1963 (up to 1965 1500S) dash.

i was quoted 7- 800 approx 9 months ago and he didnt want to be held to it as he hadnt done one for so long. sounded all a bit too hard, so i go to all the swaps and vw meets i can, to keep an eye out for bits and pieces. its only a dash pad after all (i have walked away form complete cars for less) and im sure one will turn up in good time, just have to keep searching asking questions etc. thanks baz, i have seen georges ads on ebay, just havent had the pleasure of meeting as yet. thanks DH for the tips on the year models that should fit.

I'm picking one up on Wednesday from a wrecker (unknown condition but maybe only a small crack.). I'll have look whilst there and let you know if there's more available.
