Hey Folks,

Looking to transport my car down to Mid North NSW (from Brisbane) on a car trailer.

Has anyone used a trailer hire company they can recommend? Obviously there are the usuals like Kennards and UHaul etc but if there is a bargain to be had out there, im all ears!!!

Cheers

As with anything you hire give it a good check before leaving home,as a sideline we used to have a trailer hire subcontract and the condition that people returned them in was atrocious. Unfortunately the trailers were often booked to go out straight after return and the console operaters weren't very consciencious or vigilant and they were released to unsuspecting people with defects on a few occasions. This was mainly weekends, the trailers were serviced once a month but this didn't help if the brakes were only just working or the tyres were damaged. Also check the tare weight of the trailer as sometimes they weigh as much as the towing capacity of the towbar before putting the car on it. Good luck Les

The hire trailers are extremely heavy. I would try to get a quote from a car carrying company. Might be worth your while when you factor in fuel costs and the return trip. I used Finemores to get from Mt Isa to Brisbane many years back. Cant remember the cost but I dont think it was too bad, at least it didnt shock me.

As amazeer says most of these trailers weigh around 900kg and generally tow bar capacities are somewhere around the 1000-1200kg vehicle depending on your tow vehicle. this means you can tow a 100-300kg .
