Today my 68 beetle would not start, i turned the key and radio and both light came on in the dash but the starter didn't do anything. It push started easily so i parked on a hill at home just in case. I tried starting again and nothing. I used a screwdriver on the battery terminal to the small terminal on the solenoid and the car starts so i guess the starter motor is ok. I read that it might be the ignition switch but i don't know what it looks like as behind the dash looks like a puzzle to me.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

If you are getting powewr to the solenoid on your starter motor it could also be a jammed solenoid
Give the solenoid a short sharp jab with a hammer and see if you can start it
Futue te ipsum!!!
More likely is the ignition switch...
I tried banging the solenoid but didn't work. Where is the ignition switch asnd is it easy to replace?

have a look and make sure that all the wires are connected should be 1-2 large bolted on and 2 push on's,if thats ok move to the front and follow the large red wire comming from the back to the fuse box.i had this happen to me a few years back drove me crazy, make sure that all wires are connected and there are no odd wires loose
good luck and if all fails of to a sparky

Ended up being one of the connections was broken on the starter, relay is now in. 😁
