Dylan,
Why would you want other peoples VIN's and Engine numbers. I dont think anyone would put these details up as it would be easy to copy and rebirth a car. Please dont think this is what I am thinking of you, but just a different view. Sorry, I dont trust many people. Nothing personal.

I thought rebuilding a VW would be cheap - Shit I was wrong, just don't let the wife know !!!!

Dylan... why are you trying to do this....?
Guys im dissapointed im getting a negitive reponse i just thorght it would be good to see how many VINs we can get because it would be interesting if someone your knew had a beetle that was made 1 or 2 earlyer or late than yours. Im not sure how you can do a re-birth of a car just with the vin but it's just like the KO register , it's just to see how many we can get.
good idea i think and definately interesting to see the results!
Thanks DU88EN , I just thorght we could do it as like the KO NO. register. I could walk up to any car and see the vin number on the rego label and if people could re birth a car just with a vin number , well i dont think that will work so who is going to add to this list.
Copy VIN and rebirth a car?
If you are doing this kind of thing, this list is not going to specially help you
You can get chassis and engine number off most registration labels that are visible from outside your car while it is parked anywhere.
Paranoia is not worth getting revved up about.
True. thanks hellbus. You can't just get a vin number and re-birth a car you need a compliance plate for them to check the vin is correct and if the plate is'nt present they check the chassis number stamped on the chassis. Lets just see how many we can get , or is no one game enough.
not being paranoid or anything but..
metaphorically, you wouldn't post your home address somewhere public would you?
o wait that's paranoia.
Yes i can see where people are comming from but you must not be able to Re-birth a car just with the number. Because VIN numbers are so easy to get you can look on ebay listings or you could look on rego lables. So if it was that easy to do something illegle with them why are they so easy to find , They don't seem like a secret to me.
Hi there,
I was just reading your list and noticed that it has my vehicles details on it. I have only just purchased the car about 2 weeks ago from Forster..so I assume that you have seen or know someone who used to own it.
The pervious owner was a bit sketchy on details etc when I bought it...do you have any info on any of the cars you have on the list?

Why NOT??
I have thought about doing this or adding My info into one for many years...
many cars have Registers where all this info is saved...
so for cars over 40 years old... its a great idea...
so You wouldn't like to see Your car with its rego number in a magazine etc???
- Helping keep Air Cooled VWs on the road - location: SCONE in the Upper Hunter Valley - Northern NSW 320 kms NNW of SYDNEY---
See my car in a magazine? In its current state.... no thanks!
im just not that keen on the vin number thing.
Yes a car could be rebirthed with vins, but thats no issue to me.
I think what Dylan is trying to put together is a air cooled VW Registry.
Yes thats it
from ovals to fatchicks?? i dont understand???
do you mean from kdf's/ split ovals to supers??
colonel mustard wrote:from ovals to fatchicks?? i dont understand???

Colonel. What was the first and last year that beetles were produced here in Australia?
were they not ovals to fatchicks?
Jasmine the 75 L Bug
56 oval, 2000 New Beetle
Yeah kdf's i guess can go in there aswell but are there any still around in australia.
Nice bug Gazza if it is the one that I think it is,Turquoise, with a body kit from a young lady in Forster.I did some work on this in the past. i hope you enjoy it.Cheers Les
this is bloody ridiculous. what is the point? how many millions of vws were made each with their own number sorry but i dont see any reason for this not to mention that i would not appreciate my cars vin and engine numbers slapped around the internet. perhaps a heinz tomato soup can registery in order of use by dates? and whats with the fat girl reference? i bet your a real ladies man?
good one dirk
hes a 13 y/o kid with a mad passion for vws, give him a break
just FYI fatchick is the vw slang term for late model air cooled cars
thats baywindow kombis, 68 on bugs and 70 on type3s and ghias with square bumpers, bigger taillights etc
some people misinterprate fatchick is just meaning superbeetles

Yeah. I'm going to appologise in regards to my first comment of why. Dylan, freaking go for it mate, lots of people are going to hate it, tell them to get over it, you love VW's. and thats pretty sweet in my book. So, sorry for what i said.
As for fatchicks, I was joking, but as joel said, i also thought it just meant supers... so there you go. YOU CAN LEARN SOMETHING EVERYDAY!! Alot of people on here neeed to geet over themselves and realise that. You know who you are!
Good on you dylan
🙂
Yeah thanks Joel and colonel. I do know who i am and what im talking about and some people are paronoid about there NUMBERS of there cars being put around the net. There are many vw registrys around the net and there is'nt one on here so i thorght it would be intereisting to have one and since i had already started one myself i thorght i would put it up here. And to those people that posted things up like smart arse coments about fat chicks and tomato soup i would just appreciate that you keep your comments to yourself and stop filling this topic with negitivitie and smart comments that ar'nt nessasary.
you can add this one, not the orig engine if that matters, 1971 single port 1600
VIN 1102990873
Engine number of the actual engine AS158983
Engin number on rego form is H1249038
Yea and incase it was missed, my 63 beetle. ill have a few more numbers for you quite soon i reckon 🙂
5289743, 1963 beetle.
Best of luck with the registra 😉
Good on ya Dylan for having some initiative.
Here's mine:
1962 Beetle
VIN: 4772502
Engine: AD029567 (1600)
If someone wants to copy my car feel free, the more the better... just iron out some of the handling problems, and maybe put some new brakes on =)
1962 Deluxe Beetle
1970 Low Light Microbus
Great idea Dylan. I will post rmine as soon as I get a chance to look them up.
From your ole' mate Jeff
Guys , Soon i will be deleting this post and making a new one, It will have all the numbers in it already submited but just a bit updated and cleaned. In the end this list is nothing more than just a list. Nothing fishy or illegal going on it's just a vw beetle registry. From Dylan The Dubber
