Does anyone know where in brisbane I can get a master cylinder rebuilt??
contact info please 🙂
Thanks!
take ya 2 secs to fit the kit :P
all u need is circlip plyers! 👍 well, actually if its an orginal, it will be this kinda triangular bent wire locking thing, a flat head screwdriver or some skinny shovel nose plyers will do the trick to take it off...
Take that off, undo the little fastening bolt.... and it should spring out :P. take the guts out when it springs out, clean it out, and replace the components that the kit comes with.
I bought a $30 US one, to find out it didn't ahve the same brake line fitting positions as the original RHD. so swapped the guts over on my old, including seal, inner shaft, internal spring, reservoir inlet plastic tube things with the rubber seals.
good as gold! I would iamgine a rebuild kit would come with teh same.
However,
if the inside wall is too worn though, i don't even know if u can get oversized kits for em.
Probably be more economic to then get a newie but they are cast anyways, so shouldn't be an issue. Be insanely well used if the walls were worn out.
Save ur pennies bro!

New ATE is approx $220 from micks. Why do supers have to be so different 🙁
If im going to get it rebuilt, im talking all seals, etc + hone.
Most places that rebuild M/C's bore them out the fit a stainless steel sleeve inside. This makes the inside diameter the same as standard but it will never rust or corrode again. I'm going this way with my masters cylinders for my clutch and brakes on my buggy.
Up where I am at the local place that does this it's about $44 to have it sleeved. Then just buy a kit and rebuild it yourself, then it'll last a lifetime.
And remember the best lubricant for the seals when installing them is brake fluid.

If you said I was a Volkswagen man, you'd be right.
yeah... sounds like a good option... depending on the total price... Im hoping to get out of it for under $150 fully reco...

Thanks!
I only know of a brake place in Lismore NSW that the locals here all send their master cylinders to, to be machined and sleeved and have a kit fitted... its been a few years since i had mine done.. You should be able to get it done for under $150...
Some one in Brisbane may know of some one who does them frequently in Brisbane...
I was told when i went to buy a kit for My master cylinder that everyone who buys a kit always comes back and buys a complete master cylinder... ????
so, no pitting or wear in the master cylinder... ever again... lol
cheers

i had a set of cylinders stainless sleeved once and then had problems with them leaking within 12 months. i ended up going for new ones in the end but that was just my experience im sure sleeving is ok most of the time
it will cost more to rebuild especially if you get the bore SS sleeved
cheaper to buy a new ATE from Micks
How much is one from vintage?? I should call them! 🙂
I'll send you one Ate (OEM German) in the box for $215 post included, PM me.

Matt, definatly for a super??? I'll pm you later this evening 🙂
Colonel that is good value,I usually have them resleeved by Newcastle Brake & Clutch, but that is about the same money. Most times the cylinder is badly pitted and it is a waste of time and money fitting kits, even cheap kits from the states.
Definately super. Need to order it, but checked today still available. Better than possible trouble with resleeving and a dodgy kit. GERMAN !!!
