Ive found a 1972 1600 Superbug for sale in my hometown..

engine has been re'cond'd..now at 92,000
no rust..apparently
new paint job
new interior
cd player
new battery and brakes
new seals and rubbers
near new tyres
pics of it look sweet!
the owner's family owns a garage and he's been doing it up. owned it for 2 years..the car that is :P

ok..so what else should i be looking for?

whats the go with windscreens ..fingers crossed it dosnt break..but if it did...do 1972's have hard ones to obtain?

will hopefully be buying it at 1pm today.geeeez im nervous!

any advice?!

is the speedo at 92,000 or has the engine done that since the reco, cos in a vw thats almost coming around for another reco 😂

broken windscreens should be the least of your worries owning a vw

its the same screen in all 68 onwards bug except for 73 on Lbugs and are cheap to replace compared to most cars

i think thats what its done since engine been reconditioned..are you for real about it having to be done again soon..hmmmmm

i have no clue at how much id be putting into the car on a yearly basis....

that was a bit of an over exaggeration
they do last longer than that with the right maintaince and treated right

i was just astounded that someone would still call it reco'd after 92,000 clicks
its like calling my 9 year old ford a brand new car 😂

if your only getting for a couple of years my best advice is just maintain it and drive it, dont start spending money doing it up

you NEVER get back what you put into them

Look like a Toffee Apple 😁

Congrats, and hope you have trouble free travelling.

Don't rush getting rid of it though when you have kids. I grew up in a beetle, mum had a safety harness in the back and never had any troubles getting me in and out.

Don't worry, the boys weren't calling you a chap but the guy you were buying off that was clearly trying to talk it up a little.

Hey Ash.

How many 20 year olds have you met lately? I think I'm doing pretty well, but clearly like most other people I have my faults, I'll admit that right here. I'm Sorry, If I have offended you.

I actually don't comment on every thread on AVD, but it would seem that there are some comments you don't agree with me on, and you like to voice that. Maybe you could communicate that in a different way...

Comaeyes -
I did not mean any offence to you, I was not aware of your gender as, 1 - comaeyes is something I'm not aware of the meaning of, and 2 - this is the internet and I don't know you or your gender.
Also, I did not understand your second post, hence why I said I did not know what you were trying to say. sorry for the miscommunication.

Sorry for my rudeness.

Good luck with getting a beetle. 🙂

PS - adding your location and other details about yourself in your profile may help other members to help you find a beetle. 🙂

See mate, plenty of people that can help you out, don't get too disheartened. This might have been a good thing, as you may end up with something far better.

Oh yeah, and Colonel Mustard, i'm only 26 and don't use the fact your 20 as an excuse for not thinking before you post. You're a big kid now.

Yeah, it was the same for us too! Didn't know of any Beetles for sale until we got one...then loads showed at the same time!
At least you seem to know what you want...
We bought a 68, only to sell it on and get a 67 2 months later. Expensive mistake as we'd just put rego on it....
If you need any advice or whatever, just give us a yell...i'm no expert, but always happy to help out if i can.

Hmmm try and stay away from shaky superbug steering, not the easiest to fix once it starts doing that.

For a bit more money you can have the following. I have always liked this car, and it is good value for money, and closer your way. I would check it out!
