Hey hey just trying to find out if any one in melb (or oz) has put a 12a in a bug legally ,,,ive read the web site on the americian fella with the green bug but i need aussie feedback .any info would be appreciated, cheers...........bug on.......
Give Custom VeeDub a call. They have done this before and sell the conversion plate as does Volksconversion.
The kit will mount the 12a to the VW gearbox and then you have to figure out the cooling to a rad in the front.
Search the Samba, Volkszone and right here for threads on 12a/13b conversions. basically the same engine but the 13b has wider rotors to make it a 1300cc instead of 1200cc. 😉
madness is in the eye of the beholder 👍
if you need any ideas myself and mick058 know a far bit as we shared a car and its problems which i have just sold the biggest thing is the oil cooler placement but once that is done great power to weight and cheap as to build 😉
buy the way 12a 2.4ltr 13b 2.6 ltr
Ha ha lol my first name is ty any way why a 12a go a 13b.
hey mate, 12a fits without stuffin up the body in the back, if you go 13b you have to modify the rear valence, cheers to the lads with the info, im tryin to find a cheap 12a just running to set up then will buy the bridgeport..
try searching for 12a rotary on the forum but make sure you set it to from the beginning for a better search

mine had a 13B, the trimming is only tiny bit off the valance near the catch to clear the fan hub
not even visible with the decklid shut
too much weight in the rear with a cast iron block + it will hang out the bottom like dogs balls IMO
