Due to the lack of available online references and the fact I have never used the front strap / solid mount before, I require a little guidance.

Is the front strap pictured in the photo correct?

And do the retainer bolts require the chassis horns to be drilled? or am I better off welding the bolts to the horns to allow the strap to bite down?

Any assistance / Advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

hi, i give it ago from the 'anyone' point of view. its in the right position. i was goin to have one fitted and it was recomended to me not to weld the bolts to frame horns but drill thru. or clamp it too frame horns. also to put rubber between the strap and trans unless u dont mind it being very loud in the car.im sure u will get a lot more advise as others see this thread.

The strap is not the preferred option but does work to a degree. For the front one to work it must be used in conjunction with the rear, otherwise there is too much torsional load for it to hold without fretting. That being said, you were right with either option, a through bolt or a welded on bolt will work, but the through bolt must be used with a welded in compression tube. A lower piece used to complete the strapping surrounding the nose, must also be used with each option.

Personally I recommend with anything to about 140 rwhp (depending on use and driver) that the soft Berg style and urethane rears with trans support is the way to go, strong enough to support everything, no wheel hop and MUCH quieter.

Thanks guys, I decided to go with the welded option. Here it is without the strap rubbers fitted.

All good advice and thanks again.

The kits didn't come with a bottom piece, so I guess I'll either wait and see or make something up 😀 I also moved the front bracket back an inch or so to enable more room for additional strap rubber.
