Hi All,
Finally after 5.5 years of crap it has started. I have started a blog that I will be updating everyday the house is worked on. I would suggest reading it from the start as the dirtworks would be that exciting but you should know the background and where it is heading.
Enjoy,

C'mon kids gather round,
there's a new sensation hitting town,
It's moving straight, low to the ground,
it'll pick you up when your feeling down.
So give us a clue as to where in gods country this is all taking place.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross a road without being asked for it's motive!
Brilliant. I love this blog and thanks for sharing. Having recently built our place I know how exciting this can be(even with all the drama's attached)
W🙂
Looks good but I think its a bit small
Keeping it real !
Nice, like it.
We're having similar fun with our extension - gotta love builders huh? 🙂
doh, you've put me back in therapy. I've been in this clarendon for 12 months on sunday and they STILLl owe me $300. I'm still asking, they still looking into it.
Impressed by your landscaping. I can completely relate to the difficulties involved in that. Mine is now up to 24 tonnes of wheelbarrow action
We just sold the house we built 2 years ago(beechwood) and have bought a house built in the 80s,the building report for the one we just bought is better than the one we sold, shows you how good they build them now😠i will never build again🙅 im looking forward to renovating my 80s house cheers shane.

Mick, none of the problems so far have anything to do with our builder. This all took place before he cam on board and we have nothing but raise for him so far.
The shit that went on could really put someone off for life. The builder we are using is not a big house place but a man and his team. His 5 sons are also builders and have a very good reputation for there attention to detail. Also only builds 1 house at a time from start to finish. I know there will be hiccups and with a house like this I expect that but I think it should be pretty good.

what is this!? a center for ants?.......the building needs to be at least 3 times bigger than this!
62/60 model bug eye baja bug, (Full Build in Progress)
1974 Chevrolet Luv
1970 MK2 Ford Cortina GT
1979 Yamaha RX125 Two Stroke tracker project.
2004 Harley Davidson Sportster XL Custom
Just to give you some idea of the footprint.
The actual size of the house is 233m2 but about 70 of that is outside decking so it is not enormous.
The block is 1100m2 but a lot of that is driveway.
The highest point is 5m tall of the middle floor section and the floor of the main room is the same height as the gutter of the shed.
There should be views from each of the rooms.
The rest is watch and see, the only downer is the beetle packed away and on hold for a while.

Sorry - bit of a generalization that - Our problems are solely due to our builder - they took far too long to get us a budget estimate. In the mean time they started work on plans and initial plan submissions to the council, got initial building permission, have taken geo tests, drafted final detailed plans and submitted to council (currently going through council at moment) only to find out that when we finally get their estimate, their price is waaay too high.
What we though was progress over the past year and a half has turned out to be an absolute waste of time. We could have gone elsewhere and had the whole thing built by now. I am annoyed to say the least.
I'm sure that most will see 50% of the problem as us for tolerating the situation and not insisting on the figure sooner, but then there is a certain trust in the relationship, where we didn't expect to be shafted.
That said - we are in the market for a new builder so if anyone is interested in quoting an extension for us - give me a shout.
Mick.
Mick call me on my mobile.
My bro is an architect and would be able to help you out.

Clarendon submitted my plans to council and forgot to put in a back door. Took 4 goes to get them to change it.
lol our plans don't show one of the existing doors - does that mean we have to brick it up?
Heath - will give you a call over the weekend
Hi All,
I know it stalled for a while as it was raining but the slab goes down from today and it is all go after that.

Our plans are on hold at the moment - extending the garage instead (bought another VW so need more garage space) 😀
A lot has happened since the start, 8 weeks of rain and 2 weeks of 35+ but they are stuggling through. Talking about lockup by xmas. Hope you like it.

I'm in awe that you are able to build this truely wonderful house dude. It will be a great place for you and the family to call home... I look forward to the opportunity one day to have a look 🙂
Not that I've any fantastic residential architecture of my own to show, but I thought you'd like to see the last building I completed with HASSELL here in Darwin, the new Chancellery at Charles Darwin University.
