Just thought a setup/jetting discussion could be interesting as I have not seen many dubs running them here.
What filters are you using?
How are they set up?
Where do you buy your Weber parts?

I was looking at the Kads but I got a set of new ICT's from the US for almost half the price of Kads from here They seem really popular there. I found them really easy to set up and tune.

The ICTs seem fairly popular here in North America, especially for mild engines. I'm going to try a pair on the stock 1500 in my 67 this year. The ones I have are actually the EMPI EPC 34, which is their knockoff of the ICT.

I got them off The Samba Classifieds. Paid AU$250 for the carburators and manifolds.$30 for shipping. I got a Scat linkage off Classic VW and filters through CIP.

Aircooled.net has a ICT kit for US$460. That includes carbs, hex bar linkage, manifolds and filters. I would think the linkage would make the shipping expensive cause of its size. Shop around though.

The Empi copy's(EPC) are about $100 cheaper but your really taking a gamble with Empi products.

Also, ask what are the supplied jets as rejetting can run into a couple of hundred $'s.
Stock ICT jets dont work very well on the VW engine but most VW places will rejet them before on selling.

Stock ICT jet are -

idle jet 52
main jet 130
air corrector jet 160
emulsion tube F78
needle valve 175

Recommended jets for stock 1600 are-

idle jet 55-60
main jet 135-140
air corrector jet 170-180
emulsion tubes F5

Hope thats helps.

Just to add to this thread, I had one of the local club guys who is very good with carbs take apart my brand new Empi 34 copies before I ran them, as a precaution. Sure enough, there was a bit of crap inside them, and some casting flash that he cleaned up. He is also relocating the fuel inlets for me, and some other minor custom work. Will post some pics when he has them done.
