Replacement Coil for 1300

Just wondering what currently available coils would be suitable for a stock standard 1300 single port beetle engine.

I think I have fried mine and I don't want to get one that isn't up to the job, or will ruin other components.

For instance, with the Bosch GT40 be alright, or would I be better off with the GT40R?

GT40R are designed for use with a ballast resistor
they run at 9 volts, it wont last long if u run it at 12v

a GT40 will be ok
some people have luck with them, dads has been going for 9 years now, but ive had 2 die, one under 2 years old and know of a few others cases as well
