We have a workshop in an industrial complex at Rutherford. And we where told from people that where posting items to our workshop address that the mail was being sent back to them.

So I rang up and they said they wont deliver mail to our workshop if we don't have a letter box. I said fair enough we will get a letter box.

We put up our new letter box outside our fence out the front of our complex with numbers displayed on it on the left of our gate on they way into our complex. 2 weeks ago and sent ourselves a test letter to see if we get it.

We didn't get our letter or any mail over the last 2 weeks thought this was odd. So I rang Australia post delivery centre again. They now inform me that we will not get our mail if the letter box isn't on the right hand side of the entrance as the mail delivery contractor for our area has a car and needs to be able to drive up to the letter box and put the mail in.

I said I have never heard of anything so ridiculous, as all letter boxes are on the left hand side of the street and cars drive on the left side of the road and the driver is on the right side, so where's OH&S in this case as he has to drive on the wrong side of our entrance to our premises to put mail in the letter box. Shouldn't they have a postie bike like everyone else????? What th!!!!! 🤪🤪

It would be a great contract to have as they don't deliver your mail if they have to get out of their car they just return it to sender. The local mail centre must realise they have a lot of mail being returned to sender.

Just my bitch and to see if anyone has ever had this problem???

not with letter boxes, but parcels being used as a football.

Sold a 34 pict carby a little back, poor fella who bought it got a parcel that was crunched up, perforated with holes like as though it had been prodded a hundred times, and the carby was broken. 🙁

I sent a complaint to them, but for it to go underway, the fella who recieved it had to take it into a post office.

Was pretty disappointing.

The other thing is, they will only deliver it to the number on the package, not the name.
I had a package go mising for over a week...it was delivered two doors up, and he was away at the time.
I have lived here since 1981, so the posty knows where I live..."it is just the rules".

Mostly I have no problems with the postie he pokes the letters under the door if it is closed or if i'm away he will drop it into the servo console, the billygoat who does the parcels mostly brings the parcels for home to the workshop so he doesn't have to go the extra distance or if I'm closed and he is in a foul mood will take the parcel to the town post office instead of the one 2 blocks away and leave a note to pick it up within 24hrs.What really craps me is when they return a letter with incorrect address on it if you miss the street number and then they drop all of this junk mail addressed to the resident or whatever. Ain't life grand.👍

definitely crap. I dont have a mailbox. Its the only way you dont get junkmail. Actually not true, I still get it in the po box occasionally. But every now and then theres a letter that someone will send out to the residential address instead of postal address or junk mailers get your name of the electoral role. Really pisses the postie off because they have to deliver it by law if it is possible to do so. He has to get off his bike, walk up the hill and leave it on the step. At least that is what they told us. Even though we tell them to just return it undeliverable.

Hi

I get 1 or 2 parcels posted to my home every week, ebay etc..

My house is 100 metres from the street, the local mail contractor always brings my parcels to my door and if he thinks I'm home, he will knock on the door and say hi, otherwise he just leaves them at the door.

When he's on leave the fill in bloke just drops a note in the letterbox and then I have to go pick it up, usually much later in the day.

I guess we cant be to hard on them, they might go "postal" and they mustn't have paid attention at school to end up with a job like that

That sounds so stupid Rose...

that isn't service....

sounds like a lame excuse for the deliverer...

I thought the post was still as good as it was... lol

at least it is in the Country... at the moment..

Only problem i have is parcels...
small parcels get left in My mail box... [usually from overseas]

and larger ones [again from overseas, mainly] get delivered to My door...

only problem is, I don't hear the doorbell very often...

so Have to pick up the larger parcels at the post office...

I may have to ask her to leave the parcels at the door...

apart from the ones I have to sign for...

but maybe She can't do that... ??

PS: My remote Doorbell is very loud...
but then again, i'm a bit deaf.. lol

I was thinking maybe my letter box is defective cause I don't get any mail, so I will have to take it back to Bunnings and get it replaced with a new one that isn't defective.🤪🤪😂

Guess what we have a letter in our letter box today for someone else in our complex not us. Different name and different unit number.

So at least I know the letterbox works now.

I've had packages just thrown at my front door from the street (only a matter of a few metres) cos the postie can't be arsed getting off his bike. Not a problem for a bunch of letters but I've had CD cases broken before.

The thing with politcal mail is there's nothing on the outside that identifies it as such, so you open it anyway (around here at least, happend to me today!).

In the past I've sent it back saying 'stop wasting time and resources' when they sent multiple ones to my house, and one of my housemates returned one with some laundry power in the envelope!!

I've found the Aust Post contractors to be generally pretty good, but still have to collect dome stuff from the PO as my front door is (was) a bit public. Would have to leave work early to get to the PO to pick 'em up (once I did that and the place had just been held up!).

Hiya All,

Complaints about rules and regulations and resultant service?

You folks down in Oz are lucky. Up here in the States it gets a LOT more serious.

Ever heard of the term "going postal"?
