Alternator Idiot Light

High Guys

When wiring up an idiot light with an alternator, do you put 12v from the ignition into the light then down to the excite terminal of the alternator. If this is the case, then does it have a special globe holder?

EDIT

Special globe holder as in on that has the power and earth terminal and not just the power terminal like the rest on the VW gauge. Because the 12v ign needs to go to the globe and then to the alt, it cant with the single terminal globe holders.

Ok

Worked it out

The back of the speedo has an insulated block that recieves the 12v for the indicator and supplies the power for the indicator, oil and gen light. then the termial on the globe holder goes to the alt, oil switch and 49a of the hazard relay

Every wire gone from the whole car, all new wires front headlights to tail lights
