Just bought my first bug

Hi i just bought my first bug a 72 model today so trying to learn lots about it.It has vw1300 badge on the back and was told when i was looking at it that it had a 1600cc motor. it is a twin port motor but have read that some 1300 motors had twin ports aswell so if anyone can tell me what motor i have would be really great thanks.Engine No is AS086111

Hi Fishynos72 I still have to spray in some rust protectent in the tunnel and i got rid of all that sound deadning stuff that took a long time pokeing and proding and blowing out with compressed air all done now😁 Maybe you can help on my first drive out on the highway when at about 100klmh i get a real noisy gear stick rattle any ideas?

the rattle may be the bushings on the rear shockers.

heres some pics of the hole i had

after i welded the plate in

what i did was wield in a plate (after cutting out the rust and coating it) Then filled and shaped with some putty.
