Hi guys
Have had the clutch sieze and therefore need to drop out engine, however, I am having great difficulty pulling engin away from gearbox. Could the clutch problem mean that it is grabbing and therefore I need to remove gearbox as well.
Almost pulled car off stands. Any advice very welcome.
Thanks!

once you have the 4 bolts out and taken off throttle cable, wire, lines etc , use screwdrivers to lever motor off the box

car forums. where a lot of peoples good intentions end up taking a good old car off the road forever never ever to see the road again. 🥲
yeah and make sure you have got it jacked right ...not to much not to little
also sounds like the bugme videos could help you pm me

Undo the 4 bolts then grab the exhausts (if bolted on well) and wiggle towards you.

Make sure its on a trolley jack to support it!
Thanks guys
Funbug & eraser: thanks tried wiggling but thats when I nearly pulled car off stands.
ian.mezz: thought about screwdrivers but was worried i might damage machined surface or bellhousing, but will try it.
13bwagon: no idea what you are talking about in regard to videos but am unable to send pm yet.
Thanks again guys!

we used a crowbar ,once everything was undone. You can be rough and gentle at the same time.lol so you dont have to damage the housing.
make sure the engine is supported by something properly otherwise there could be increased stress and when it does break free,it will break free quickly.

Make sure the car is flat. If the car is very high at the back compared to teh front, as you pull it off, you also need to pull it up.......
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!
Car being level is an important one... as the engine comes backwards you want it to stay level to the car until the clutch clears the input shaft of the trans... otherwise you could damage either or both.
Oh hey - what does "had the clutch seize" mean ??? Never heard of that one, so depending on the symptoms there could be something else gone wrong inside the bellhousing....

Hey sides
Was having ttrouble with starter motor and was clutch starting the car when cable broke. Got cable repaired but now clutch doesn't work at all. I was assuming it had seized but pedal moves with absolutely no feeling at all.
Thanks

Thanks all for advice. Now have engine out. Clutch problem is the operting shaft has broken one of the arms and throwout bearing came loose. Just gotta get the parts now. Very easy removal once I got it loose. Should be easy to get back in.

hi all
Here I am again. Is there any trick to removing the clutch operating shaft. Can't get the lever off. Have removed circlips and lever moved a small amount but will not move any further even used a gear puller.
Thanks

Right, OK - busted throwout arm on top of busted cable and starter... yikes... talk about bad luck coming in three's !!!
😉
Presumably you've unhooked the return spring and had a good look around, plenty of WD40 sprayed on etc ???
Other option is to loosen off the grub screw, and drift the throwout arm further into the bell housing rather than trying to drift the operating lever off the throwout arm... sort of the opposite direction to what you're doing now if that makes sense.

Hey Sides
Thanks for your help. Yeh definitely bad luck with clutch but knew when I bought it there would be problems as all I have seen so far has been done wrong or very poorly. Good for learning project. Got it all out. Turns out there was a burr on the end of the shaft and after filing it down came off relatively easy. Now to get it all back together. Been missin the badass big time.Just want to get drivin again.
