How do you guys get into the bonnet of a bettle when your cable breaks, cant pull out the seats lol, no holes underneath and you cant get at the mechanism from the glove box.

get a hacksaw and cut the handle in the middle on the bonet and unscrew from the latch

this is the only way

puta spare cable in after you fix that goes out to the inner guard and if the other one breaks then u can open by pulling the spare

get a new bonnet cable from super cheap or similar and fit it to the bulkhead on the car under the dash forget aboutt he glove box fixing

its the most usless thing VW did
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

Is your bonnet fully locked (bonnet doesnt move up or down) or just half locked (where its locked but will move up and down slightly {1-2cm})?

In 5 years I have never locked our bonnet to the second click. I just find it really handy to not have to open the glovebox, and also not worry about cable braking. I don't think the bonnet will have much chance of coming up while driving. Not like my EH Holden with a wedge shaped bonnet that has more air lifting it than holding it down.

Bonnets don't come up on a beetle, even with NO catch, 100mph doesn't lift it.....not to be recommended though.

With all respect, we'll take your word for that fact matberry.... I guess you didnt schedule that particular test ??

I'm sure no-one will go out and try and myth-bust that one..

Your right there !!!🤪🤪🤪🤓

Although I did have a mate that drove an early beetle and when he fitted a fiberglass porsche style bonnet he couldn't bring himself to drill any holes in the nice new plastic and so never actually fitted any catch....never came up afaik.
