2ltr motor advice required (inlet manifold)

Hi Chaps,

Ran in to a bit of a problem with my motor, the inlet manifold equalising pipe has started to blow instead of suck resulting in exhaust smoke that appeasr to be a grey colour rather than a blue colour.

Performance has been affected but the motor starts wihtout any abnormal engine noise.

The bus has been sitting for a few years an has only been used in the last couple of days.

Anyone with any ideas to what the problem might be.

nope definitely blue so guess thats either the rings or the valves. Could the inlet valve be stuck open?

Is the bus havea AUTO or manual box ??

cause the balance line also sucks vacuum for the gear box

Stuck inlet valve will make a racket, but is the logical explanation ie something wrong with the valves....foreign material stuck in valve seat, burnt or loose valve seat, rocker gear or pushrod problem.... had an engine have valve springs break as they were rust fatigued. All of the above will be seen or diagnosed during a valve adjust.

Cheers for the advice...found out the valve guide had started to break apart which stuck the valve open every now and again.Thats the problem was intermitant and blow back into the carb and balance pipe.
