Seeking advice. I am building a 1776 with a very mild cam and possibly 1.25 ratio rockers. I have a single 40 DCN and a pair of Solex carbs with DP manifolds off a Type3 to choose from. Which will yield the best power?

Twins are 32-34 PDSIT-2 on stock DP Type3 short manifolds

funnily enough I've run both those setups on the same engine
never on my 1776 but on a 1600 i prefered the weber

the PDSITs are 32mm vs 40mm for the DCN

twins were abit smoother down low but overall weber had more mid and topend and a sexier noise but only worked well cos it had good manifold heat. without theyre real pigs

type3 linkage took some frigging with to make work on an upright engine

Thanks. Will stick with the Weber and get hold of an electric manifold heater.

if the PDsits are straight out of a pancake type3 theres a fair bit of work getting them setup for an upright bug motor

I had to completely rework the linkage setup, weld up the manifold vac ports and make a custom balance pipe and custom mount some air cleaners.

it was worth all the effort, they were alot nice than my kadrons but the DCN was so much easier to tune and had better top end

I'd go weber for simplicity, power would be very similiar as said already. 🙂
