Hi,
I've acquired these AMC head a year ago.
Yesterday i pulled my engine apart again to change my super worn out conrods (small end) with second hand "less worn out" conrods. anyway I decided to clean the ports and discovered that my valve guides are pretty worn out. [damn that first owner, ($80 a pair i haggled down to) also explains the massive blowby]
It is all put back in now

Anyway I was wondering if i have enough money in the future (long future lol)
would repairing these heads (new bigger valves, new seats, new guides, some porting) altho something like porting i could do myself to save money.. or should i just buy a new pair with genuine casting

A good case for the flashlube.I use new heads, but if you are going to have them rebuilt with big valves etc that is your decision.

I don't think these heads have had flashlube
on the other hand i had another pair of original tp head which have equally worn guides that the previous owner used with 10 years of flashlube
with that said the driving condition difference between the two are unknown.
who knows maybe the AMC heads were only 10 years old and already worn out as much as the 30 y-o vw one.

anyway by new pair i meant something along the line of an 044

cheers
