For another thread i was taking a video of my driveway from hell and it got me thinking about how much easier my life would be if i raised my car a bit. We all know that isn't going to happen, but still it got me thinking. So what sacrifices have you made to have a low car?
I know you may not be able to, but you look like you hit the start of the driveway at an angle in the 1st video (going up) and that's why I think your front spoiler is hitting. Can you come more square on, to the ramp.
If not, tell your Dad to buy a new house with a flat driveway.
Kev
P.S. No where near as steep as my driveway.
I thought rebuilding a VW would be cheap - Shit I was wrong, just don't let the wife know !!!!
haha that was dad driving. Cant you tell by the stall!?!?! But yeah it gets worse if you hit it square. At least at an angle one side gets lifted up and as the suspension has no travel it lifts the other side to clear. But yeah it needs more cement at the bottom but that discussion always ends with mum going "if he cant get his cars out why dont we sell them and buy him a hyundai or something with airbags wa wa wa"
mine is stock height but my exhaust is super low, big ass cannon on the end and it scrape on everything. school has long driveway so instead of all speed bumps etc i jump the gutter and flog it along the grass then pop back on just before the front gate.
I don't have a low car yet (next few weeks and there might be a bit of low front rake... - mine only scrapes on the curretly rubbish exhaust...), but my sisters integra which doesnt appear low, but defs is, wont go into the driveway at our house... it needs to go into the garage... it needs alot of timber (like fence pailings...) and must be reversed on an overly extreme angle... the exhaust also hits on everything.... speedbumps make me sad in that car....
a mates car round here ripped his exhaust off from the block of his skyline the other week, driven over a man hole that had sunk on one side and stuck up on the other.
ouch. I still laugh at (and use as an example of ridiculous low) trent guivera's type 3 wagon that got beached on a speedhump. Like full on all 4s off the ground beached. Had to be towed off
I had a KG in the UK and I couldn't get into petrol stations unless I went in at an angle. Once when I had to have it towed back to London half the length of my exhaust tip was missing because the guy lifted it from the front. I love my buggy👍
That drive's an easy fix, done heaps of em, you just need to flatten off the sharp dip at the approach, a nice piece of heavy flat steel would fix it in a jiff just make sure you fix it in place with a few masonry anchors so it dosn't move round too much.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross a road without being asked for it's motive!

You think you have the driveway from hell try half a KM of gravel with washouts 6" deep.
Every time i grade it there's a torrential downpour.
I bit the bullet and raised mine abit.
higher than what I'd like but still 2.5" lower than stock at the front
Yet another good example of how robust the fibreglass Kamei's are
if my front wheels dropped down in rutts on the driveway it used to bulldoze rocks the size of oranges.
I had to raise the mainstreamer too. more than 1 passenger it would bottom out bird turds
Bah, i crunch worse on my Driveway, almost any driveway actually... My old 351 Fairlane used to get beached on speed humps, i used to have to hit them quick so i didn't get stuck, but i LOVE low cars... My dub is going lower... Soon... Soon...
That driveway isnt steep. Mine is the maximum legal gradient, had to drop the garage to get it past council. My sister in laws Citroen cant get up without scraping the underside of its bumper. My lancer misses by about 50mm standard height.
Solution to your problem is simple though, would take 10 minutes. Just loose the piece of tupperware hanging out from underneath your car. Keep the plastic for lunch boxes. Problem solved. Your mother would have to find a nother point of attack.
Had to make many sacrifices for having a low beetle, having to drive half the block on the footpath to get in my driveway ,not being able to fit a jack under it anywhere ,not being able to open the passenger door when parked next to a gutter ,NO speed humps and really bad bump-steer.
But it is all worth it.
I did end up raising the back a bit cos the bump-steer was a bit dangerous .
