Hi there!
I'm looking for the following items to help get my notch on the road please:
- notchback headliner ribs (bows)
- notchback headliner NEW in gun metal grey????
- notchback new carpet kit or where to buy from (ordered from Tru-fit carpets)
- extractors and muffler (able to pass roadworthy or better)
- early door cards (good enough to make templates from - you can even have em back!) (got one) - EDIT got a LATE one by mistake still need earlies)
- drivers door mirror (able to pass roadworthy or better)
What have you got?
Cheers! Toby 👍
.
Toby,
I don't know if the headliner bows are the same from square to notch but I have some new ones coming with my interior for the square. When I rip out the original headliner I'd part with the ones on the car if they will fit. Will be a few weeks though.
When you find out where to get carpet from let me know, I need some too.
Cheers,
Greg

Greg, I think they are the same so that sounds promising. Where did you buy your new ones from?
Carpet...hmmm I know "you can get it at vintage" but there must be other options. Will let you know what eventuates.
.
How much is the carpet from vintage?

Thanx for nothing, ???
What else can you help with.

Got them from eVW parts with the rest of my TMI stuff. Unsure of the condition of mine but I just figured why not get new ones while I'm at it. Car wasn't even here when I ordered the interior.
BTW my driver side door card has about 1/4 of it missing but the passenger side is OK, just has a 5 inch or so hole in it for a speaker. Should do the job for what you want I guess. Again will be available when the interior gets here.

the right door glass looks good from what I can tell, left has 2 tiny chips on the inside, they look like stone chips but obviously cant been as they are inside.
they are about 1mm in size.

Thanks Vlad. I'll get back to you on the crank once I know if mine can be used or not. It needs to be a "12 volt" 69mm forged beetle crank (or CB, berg, scat etc) and I think yours might be 6v with smaller oiling holes as this is what I used to have with my type 3?
I have already paid to have it balanced with my flywheel but 4 of the dowel holes are out of round and the other 4 are perfect so it's had a hard life and been redrilled at some point.
If the machinist can't use larger dowels I may have to scrap it as it won't be strong enough. I'm waiting for him to get to my engine parts and tell me what's good and what's not so good.
Re the door glass...what is the condition of the metal strips at the bottom (assuming they are attached)?
.
errh the metal strips? oh those ones. umm they are great condition.
they worked no probs and look good.

to Zocstar : there are a number of options for carpet so it's best to ask them yourself 👍
.
Ok I got the banjo bolt, old door card and a crank today so a good result.
The window channels are apparently the same as beetle and readily available, so are the rubbers so good news there!
Got some leads to follow up as well. Thanks Paul.

Thereis a place in Dandenong that does type 3 carpet cheap and in various styles. Surefit carpets from memory, The carpet that came with my car i could swear came from there.

i too wouldnt mind seeing some pics of that carpet,
a friend just bought some for his falcon, pretty cheaply, cost 150 with the felt underlay.
when i enquired about carpets for a type 3 they said 250.
