Whats the most common size of wheels fitted to type 3s ?

I think ill be going down the Brm route but not sure on offset and size.

Could i go 5.5 wide on the front and 6.5 on the rear ? Is this done ??

Looks like your can only get 15s in stores around here. That true ??

Cheers Vice.

Urrrr no wont fit, there are alot of variables to consider Andrew. Type 3's are limited to which wheel you can fit , Tyre size is also an issue. Axle swap is a possibility (Last resort) We can play real life wheel selecta when you pop by. 15's were standard for Vw extremely early kombies and bugs were 16', now there are more 17's being produced (Fuchs Brms and radars)

you can legally fit up to 7 " thick but the maximum I would go is 6 ". Offset is a bigger issue than wheel size when it comes to type 3s. bigger offset allows you to fit wider.

I have 5.5 with 20mm offset and 185 tyres and they fit great with tons of space. a guy I know from these forums has porsche cookie cutters at 7" rear by 6" front.

I am aiming towards empi riviera wheel as above. By my calculations it should fit just with 205/65R both front and back. There is a 4cm clearance front and 3cm back. My current wheels and tyres are 185/65R at 20mm offset.

Looking at getting vented disk kit which increases tack by 6mm both side front only, back stay default. so 12mm total for front. the riviera has offset 17mm so thats 3mm more track each side or less 3mm guard clearance. the 205 makes for 10mm more track each side/less clearance.

Front.
40mm current
-6
-10
-3
=21mm clearance

Rear
35mm current
-10
-3
=22mm clearance

Pick wheels can be a pain. but its better to do some calcs so you wont have a dud set.
