G'day all, it seems I am destined to work on this beasty for all eternity.
I have had starting problems from day one and at last after replacing nearly everything else it has finally come down to the fact that the starter motor along with the starter solenoid are well and truly stuffed.

So, I'm looking to buy a new/second hand one that is in very good working condition. It is for a 69 Beetle with a 1600 tp manual drive train, 12 volt.
The old No: are 0001211012 -013 and it was a BOSCH 0.7 HP.
Anybody?

I got one, was going to put it up on ebay sooner or later.
I will check the internals out and let you know of the condition.

Cheers.

Thanks for the idea of reconditioning it...but the Starter Solenoid is one that doesn't come apart and I really don't have time to spare to do the job.
I only come home on weekends and would rather spend that time with family instead of fixing the Beetle.

The cheapest one I can find is $164.95 from Classic Vee Dub...I was hoping to find something just a little less expensive..after all..it is the L plate daughter's car and she is paying for the bit and pieces...I just do all the knuckle skinning and swearing etc...lol

I can put in some bushes into this one I got and should be good for many years. Only thing on it thats not as good as it should be is the pinion gear has a few chips but should still operate fine.
The actual gear mesh is perfect so it wont effect the performance at all. I can do $70 posted.

Gazza,

I am comming back to Newcastle tonight, (somewhere between 9 & 10pm I am guessing) so I could pick it up (if you have it out) and drop it to an auto electrican to get repaired during the week, then drop it back on my way home Friday evening (say 5-6pm) if that is any help. Ring me on 0418 841581 before I go past if you are interested.
