I think that it would be a good idea for us to have a day at a skidpan in sydney, it would cost around $100ish each and need a helmet and long sleeves and long pants but would anyone come.

The skidpan would be wet, meaning less tyre wear and easy sliding for stockers.

Once again would anyone come, and i know this sort of thing has been done before but each time im on here it seems more and more younger people are on here with the VW and i think this would be a cool way to spend a day with your dub. Also if friends want to come along in their non VW car then let em, the more the better.

It's been a while, but I've had Gwendolyn out there body rolling away happily...

I think you'll find that the track people will require a club registered with CAMS to be organising the event, ensuring proper insurance and the like, and that rather than just letting people drift, they would probably want some type of activity, like motorkhana, driver training etc etc. Remember that there are walls on at least two sides, and a nasty gutter on one other side

So despite all that, I think the idea is a good one, and I'd certainly turn up, but there are a few hurdles you'd have to clear.

Cheers
Craig

My car club, CACA is running skidpan motorkhanas about twice a year out there. The next one is on the 16th of october.

http://caca.org.au/nsw/modules/extcal/year.php

The cost would be less than $100. Something like $65 for the whole day and you don't need a helmet or anything else. Just turn up with a car that runs, turns and stops. Kids from age 12 can enter too.

In SA the concrete motorkhanas only cost $25. No helmets, dry poured concrete track, it's actually a Pantech park at the Big W warehouse in Monarto. You do need a CAMS L2NS licence, although they are all run as "Come'n'try" so that you can buy a one-day licence on the spot. The problem with motorkhanas and similar sports of course is the amount of time spent queuing up, but they're still great fun. I'd encourage anyone to get into it. Beetles are hilarious fun at Motorkhanas.

One more question, do they wet the skidpan, or leave it dry?
