Building Jet Engines for Hawker de Havilland.
Having to adhere to CASA regulations.
Shall I continue.

I doubt very many.

Hi Dave, yes the Hitler thing with Volkswagens always pisses me off too. Mercedes Benzes were Hitler's favourite cars yet you never hear Hitler connections there. Hitler always preferred the Mercedes silver arrow grand prix cars over the Auto Unions. Likewise BMW made radial engines for Luftwaffe planes like the FW190 - BMW's logo is actually a stylised propeller - yet they don't have a Hitler stigma. Then there's Mitsubishi - they made the Zero fighter during the war. You can make lots of historical connections to current day companies and WW2 - yet the Beetle always seems to be the Hitler-mobile in popular culture. I just tell people that our Volkswagens were made in Melbourne; that seems to shut them up.Sides wrote:Warning - MASSIVE diversion off topic... 😉
Something to think about... with Volkswagen's and Porsche's am sure you've all heard the "Hitlermobile" slurr... why doesn't that happen with NASA rockets and the shuttle ???
The Saturn V rocket and it's F1 engines were designed by Wernher von Braun... the German rocket expert who also designed the V1 "Doodlebug" flying bomb and V2 rocket as weapons for the Luftwaffe.
Some of von Braun's designs are also included in both the Space Shuttle Main Engines (SSME's) and Space Shuttle Rocket Boosters (SSRB's)... so couldn't the Space Shuttle then be called a "Hitlermobile" also ???
