Hi all, type 1 with 22 000 km on the motor.
Just replaced the oil pressure switch as the old one leaked.
Did a oil change as usual, all went well.
Tonight on the way home the light was flickering when accelerating at the 3 000 mark...
Pulled over and checked oil level it was fine.
My question what could be the cause??
check the cable going to the oil pressure sender... it got me for days! ahhaa

if the wire open circuits, the light doesn't come on..
its only a short circuit or faulty oil switch that would cause the light to come on... hopefully...
or the oil was too thin...???? when hot...??
best of luck

Thanks for your replies.
It will be looked at on Saturday.
Will be renewing all.
Fingers crossed no harm has been caused during the oil light flickering on the internals..
best way to be sure is check with a pressure gauge. if its below (checks manual) umm 7psi @ 550rpm and less than 28psi @ 2500rpm then you got a problem.

I have noticed the plastic senders now available are probably from Brasil...
as they are very cheap... lol
not good

So true! After driving several beetles over the years I used to think they were both
supposed to be yellow!
