Hey all.
I'm down in Sydney until next Wednesday. I was just wondering what cool things there are to do?
Auto museums?
Are there any Volksie events on at all that I can tag along to?
Cheers in advance.

If you said I was a Volkswagen man, you'd be right.
Kings Cross, Google some clubs, candys appartment goes pretty hard.
Not any car shows that i know of but wednesday nights there is drag racing at eastern creek.
The best sight to see is Sydney in your rear view mirror. 👍
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross a road without being asked for it's motive!
And oh the cargo bar in darling harbour is okay if you dont wanna go cross
THERE WAS SOME sort of CAR museum IN NEAR A CAR PARKING STAATION BEHIND DARLING HARBOUR.???
china town, the market next to china town.
power house museum.
centre point tower. the nice park. museum in the city.
you can travel on the mono rail and light rail.
opera house and you can catch a ferry across to Taronga zoo.
😂🤪😂🤪😂
car forums. where a lot of peoples good intentions end up taking a good old car off the road forever never ever to see the road again. 🥲
And i forgot again LUNA PARK
World bar in Kings Cross. Teapots!
Purple Sneakers on Friday nights at The Gladestone on Reagent street. The best indie music in Sydney. I live there!
Lowenbrau in The Rocks. Schnitzel and steins!
Those are obviously all night spots though. There's loads of places to go at night.
Chinta Ria for dinner, which is on the roof of Cockle Bay beside Pyrmont Bridge (Darling Harbour). Best Thai/Malaysian food in Sydney guaranteed, and a VERY cool atmosphere... 1000 year old Tibetan Monastery door's, giant stone Buddha...all the trimmings really.
Also the Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour is worth a look too.... impressive how cramped HMAS Onslow (the submarine) is.
As far as places to drink, well my call would be the Aussie Youth Hotel... heh heh... can you tell I went to Uni in Sydney ???
😉
Really any of the clubs, pubs or bars up towards The Rocks or in the Cross are a ton of fun (anyone know if the Test Tube Bar is still there ???) or for somewhere a bit fancier try the Marble Bar down underneath The Hilton, then Patricks for brekki afterwards.

Hi
Catch a ferry out to Watsons Bay, have some fish & chips at Doyles, have look at the Gap, then a bus ride to Bondi, Bondi to Tamarrma walk. Powerhouse museum is pretty good.
Steve
Ooo ooo - Harry's Cafe de Wheels up in Woolloomooloo... you just gotta have a 'Tiger' pie floater when you're in Sydney !!!

Experience peak hour traffic... 👍
Not really Sydney, but a day trip up to the Blue Mountains is good.
Pub Crawl around Paddington... always a good one I think anyway, Chinatown, and cap it off with 3am Pancakes at the rocks

Most of the 18 yr olds from round here, bout an hour and a half south of the city tend to train it in around 6-7pm then party like madmen or women get hammered then sobber up a bit by 10pm then head to candys till 3am once again smashed then head to one of the clubs cant member what its called but its open from about 3-6am then we catch a train home.
You wouldnt need the train bit but yeah if youve got money to spend thats how to spend it
There's a few dayclubs too which start at about 8am if you still feel like partying. I think you can go to Spectrum on Oxford street. Day dreams is somewhere too. There's a few others but I can't remember the names. But usually it's full of people still 'pinging' from a couple of hours ago.
And who ever isnt inside and pinging still outside even worse waiting for their mates
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
I should probably point out the fact that I don't drink. And whilst I enjoy going out with friends, I don't think I'll be spending every night out pub crawling.
Sides - I'm staying with a friend in Woolloomooloo, so I may have to check out these pies you're talking about 🥷
Keep the ideas flowing people!
And stuff to do during the day too 😂

Wow that rules out everything ive said bar luna park.
Or the imax is preety good to in darling harbour.
Could also check out some vw shops like classic and vintage.

Fish and Chips at Doyles at watsons bay is good too.
Should also go to the Lidnt cafe in Darling Harbour cool shop if you like chocolate.
But most of all have a good time
Smiley go to Newtown King street near the city heaps of good pubs with bands , good restaurants a street full some good stores selling books, cloths & antiques they stay open late on fridays & saturdays enjoy if this is your thing
A wave a day keeps the doctor away especially in a VW 😎:
harbour bridge walk, jetboat ride on harbour. Dont worry about zoo. I was there in school holidays, half of it is closed and being renovated. Princes Highway south is one of sydney's best points 😎, through the royal national park is a top drive.
The national parks sometimes do tours of the islands on the harbour. If you're into military theres cockatoo island (which is no longer an island)
Also head to wolongong, well not it itself as its prety shit but its a really nice drive
oi!
I mean as a place to do stuff except shop. Places like thiroul and bulli and stanwell park are much nicer simply because they are away from the big smoke.
And you could drop in see Rod Penrose and check out his stuff heard its preety cool.

Yeah I like a good bush too.
A few years ago I did some sight seeing in Sydney
and I was able to purchase an "all day rover" pass
that gave me public transport and ferry rides amost every where,
and also discounts and free entry into a lot of things like the Power house museum and also the centerpoint tower.
The museum was pretty cool, as was centre point($18!) on a clear day.
I am pretty sure you can get all the way up to the blue mountains with that pass.
That is a day in its self with Imax and sight seeing.

OK, so in the city hit get a CityRail day hopper ticket, and take a run around on the City Circle. That'll get you Circular Quay, The Opera House, Sydney Harbor Bridge from Circular Quay station... Museum for obviously the Museum... Hyde Park (from St James station I think). Town Hall station is right in the middle of town... you've got the Cinema district, Town Hall (duh!), The Queen Victoria Building, Pitt St Mall (DJ's and Centerpoint) and a whole heap more.
If you want Sydney beaches, well IMHO forget Bondi... way too many pommie tourists... take a ferry over to Manly instead. When you're there go to the fish and chip shop in the Mall... can't remember it's name, but it's pretty well known and hard to miss. It's just a takeaway place so you go eat in the amphitheater in the mall, but I think it's way more a Sydney institution than Doyles. Clovelly or Bronte is the pick for locals, and Coogee Bay Hotel f you want to get in a fight with an NRL player.
If you're happy to venture out of town, the Blue Mountains is pretty spectacular... The Three Sisters is a good starting point. There's a pretty good walk from there down into the valley... "The Steps" is all I've known it as... it's designed for tourists more than bush walkers, so pretty safe and simple really.
Lots of great little cafes and restaurants around Blackheath and Leura, and the Leura Lolly Shop is definitely worth a visit.... an old style lolly shop with jars floor to ceiling on every wall, and you can get EVERY kind of sweet/lolly you can think of. Even bought a Wonka Bar last time I was there... mine didn't have have a gold wrapping inside tho...
🙁
And if prepared to go a bit further again, Lithgow is a great little town with plenty of railway based history, especially at The Zig Zag railway (pretty sure its still running).
So yeah... that's quite a few ideas there... make sure you tell us what you do... pics possibly ?/?
Glad you liked the pea floater at Harry's !!!

You forgot the small arms museum at Lithgow! They have some rifles that you can use (not shoot) but see how it works, and if your any good you can strip them down.
