Thanks Dave. A trip to QLD is long overdue! Either later this year or early next year. Have to catch up with an old mate who moved from around Bracken Ridge to Sippy Downs.dangerous wrote:If you are ever up this way Dallas, I have plenty of old used stuff that may fit your car.
Cant guarantee they are any good, but they are yours.
A whole rusty 1500 long engine from a beetle,(still turns)
and probably loose cylinder sand pistons....the shed is a mess, but if you come I will dig.

You know that and I know that BUT 😂waveman1500 wrote:Why wouldn't you just use 1600cc pistons and barrels? It's not like they're expensive.

The original domed piston 1500S was 66hp and the 1600 dual carb was 65 hp.... All for being Authentic to the vehicle you have. The imported cars have their own needs that many just do not understand... you need to see one in the flesh and you will realise how different and special they are.waveman1500 wrote:Why wouldn't you just use 1600cc pistons and barrels? That's what I'm after! New Cyls at least but if the pistons are there it doesn't matter... just something to stick under the bench to collect dust. The nearest I can find so far is good used ones from Peter Korsch at Gosford. NOS ones seem to be avoiding me. The car is about 96% original equipment, the only change is high backs on the seats.... for obvious reasons, the seat and lower door card covering material is cloth and engine has 1600 pots plus 12 volts.Dyno wrote:The original domed piston 1500S was 66hp and the 1600 dual carb was 65 hp.... Dallas, why not just go for a new1500 piston and cylinder set.... They are easier to find and you can just swap out the pistons.
