Does anyone in Sydney know where there is a selection of Autotecnica seats

I have rang Rare Spares, Auto 1 and a few others round Auburn / Homebush way and they are all "no worries, tell us what you want and we will get it in"

Trouble is they all want to hit 10% stocking fee if i dont take it.
I want to see what the material is like and how high they are
I have see some really good ones and some rubbish ones

Just dont fell like paying for the offer of looking

I was after some of these seats as well. Then i went on ebay and wow there is heaps of seats for heaps cheaper, everywhere around here sells seats but at 400each without rails i passed, i got a whole suzuki swift interior for 100 bucks and yhe front seats were immaculate and easy as to fit to the car. Best mod ive done to it by far.

Yeah check out ebay for recaros and alike.........autotecnica you will have to get the exact right ones for "wing" room and comfort. they aren't the lightest seat out there either if that's any concern....some make mince meat for the operation of retractable belts due to the low shoulder belt location on the beetles, which may effect engineering.

Did Jak rizzo devulge the info on which model his new ones are, must admit they look like a nice fit

As soon as you find somewhere Barry, please let me know. I was scouring the autotechnica website the other night after seeing the photos of Jak's, but there is absolutely zero detail on any of the seats, just some pictures, and a form for 'trade' enquiries.

I've currently got the seats from a Proton Satria, which are better that the broken original vinyl ones in there when I bought it, but I'm craving something better (apart from the fact that the Satria seats don't really scream German Look). Jak's ones looked great, the trouble is having the measurements right (and comfort figured out) before you fork out the hard earned.

In Port Macquarie, I looked at my Autotechnica seats at Autobahn. Repco also had some different Autotechnica seats on display. This was a few years ago, but I have been very happy with them.

there is no model name on my seats, they only have a very very small Autotechnica tag on the sides, the only other info is the info under the seat saying that they have passed the Australian design rules etc.
I have almost 3 inches between the seats, I have the passenger seat very close to the door as I have moved my drivers seat over so that it's centrered to the wheel & pedal cluster.
There is also heaps & heaps of room to get the kids in & out when they tilt forward.
They were $350 brand new on ebay.
regards
Jak

I think mine are stunning, they were lighter than the Porsche seats that I took out. Everyone that has seen them can't beleive the Quality. neither can I actually

Thread revival!!

Hey Bizarre did you ever have any luck finding your seats??

I'm trying to track down some reasonably priced fully reclinable supportive bucket seats that aren't vinyl, and autotechnica seems like a reasonable option. Has anyone had any experience with SaaS (and no I don't mean "software as a service") or Stratos??

Fleabay has also given me no joy tonight.

Thanks

Hi Craig,
have a look in his members ride thread 😉
And might I say they are amongst the most comfyest seats I've sat in.

Whoops, don't know how I missed that, thanks Joel

Guess I'll keep trawling ebay and in the meantime try and find some racing supplies shops around Sydney.

As soon as I source some seats and wheels, the old girl goes in for a stance readjustment and a few other bits and pieces.

Thanks Jak,

In the meantime I've found these:

http://www.modyourcar.com.au/obx-gts-ii-sports-seats--pair-p2260?aff=gp&utm_source=getprice&utm_medium=cpc

All I have to do is go out in the morning and measure the car to see whether they'll fit.

Any opinions before I throw my hard earned away?

Cheers

for that price I "was" going to say check out Revolution Race Gear @ Auburn for the Cobra seats - but they have gone up

http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/index.php?PCID=11045&PSO=245&PSID=467810__20&PSV=Primary&CDO=

You are aware that is each

Mine are Recaro's out of a Proton Satria GTi that I picked up $660 the pair off Ebay. They were as new

Just noticed you said yours are Proton Satria. Interesting coincidence 😎🤓

You need a seat no more than 510mm at the base - otherwise the handbrake gets lost

Double check your measurements as the GTS 11 you show is 520mm wide. That is "maybe" too much for me
Otherwise - that is a brilliant price if it is the pair

Personally, I like the old school look of the recaros. The "wings" can get overpowering in look for me

There is also JTM Auto at Auburn / Regents PArk

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BN-PAIR-BLACK-ADJUSTABLE-RACING-SPORT-SEATS-/380253265978?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5888dc603a

I was also going to say chek out Scheel
They were in the RS2000 Escort but......................................................😂

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-ESCORT-RS2000-SCHEEL-SEATS-ESP-FALCON-/190441152522?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c572d600a

Whatever you buy - get one that is ADR approved
Recaros will ba and so are Autotecnica.
Some of the JDMs are - but a lot of "sports" seats are not
I cant see where it said the GTS 11 seats were approved

Hi

If your going for factory seats I've found that Honda Prelude seats are a nice fit or if your lucky enough to score a pair like Barrys go for them.

I've done long trips in bugs with both Recaros and the Honda seats, the Honda seats are just as good as Recaros.

Thanks guys,

I'll be out shopping for things next weekend. Barry I love your seats, so I'm wondering whether I just stake out ebay for a while in the hope that something as good as those pops up. It's fair to say those seats are significantly better than the standard Satria seats in mine. I had a long look at the JTM seats, but they all seem to be in pretend 'leather' which I'd rather run a mile from.

The Cobras look great, but the price is high, and will need some additional negotiations with my beloved to achieve. I've also had trouble finding anyone that sells or advertises a price for Recaro sports seats (as opposed to racing or 4x4 seats).

According to the manufacturers web site the OBX should be ADR approved, but as you say they are probably a bit wide (which does mean I could give up jogging and still fit in them 🤓 )

http://esvc000116.wic047u.server-web.com/

Any recommendations for wreckers that might have some prelude seats? Pick and Payless at Blacktown generaly only has crap left.

Cheers
Craig

I watched for about 4 months
There were some other good buys for a little bit more..... say $800 and under, but they were all Melbourne and pick up only

I just measured mine again and they are 510mm and about 100mm between the seats to get to the hand brake

A 520mm will take it down to a 75mm (3") - that is the gap Jak has

at 520 I reckon it would be OK if you didnt have wings - but that is my preference

It is such a personal choice - and for that much money you really want to be able to put it in and look, touch, fit, feel

Personally - I would wait for what you really want
I was goint to go with the JTM's but they just werent what I was after

You are always welcome to come over and measure away
I am near 5 Dock

How incredibly lame are the various auto parts retailers in this fair country of ours. 😬

Due to a seal fail in my boring daily driver I found myself wandering the streets and happened upon a retailer of ill repute and thought I might just wander in and see if they have any seats. As it turned out, yes they did, one fixed race seat and one recliner, both SaaS and both sitting on top of a display for GPS units about 3 metres above ground. Whilst I wasn't exactly taken by the style or colour of the recliner, I persisted, pointing out to my disinterested sales attendent that before I buy anything I want to touch it, feel it and if possible sit in it. The response was that they believed the recliner looked better and would be what they would choose. Not even the suggestion that they might try and get one down to have a look at. That is the point at which I walked back out.

Given I want the car to be a daily driver, which will entail at least 5 to 8 hours a week with my posterior nestled in it, I really want to make sure I'm happy with a seat before forking out >$800 on them.

My frustration is growing 🙁

Have you tried Brooky Parts Plus or Euro Parts, both of these dismantle a variety of vehicles and carry a reasonable stock of seats at a reasonable price. If you can't do any good at these 2 post again and I will slip another couple of suppliers. Cheers Les

Last tme I looked at Saas seats, the build quality wasn't that great. The backs are made from masonite. This was along time ago and I ended up going the whole hog and buying recaros in the end and have never looked back. I've now had them for ages and they have been in numerous cars now.
