Hello All, I have tried a search for this topic but couldnt find anything. Anyway I have a 1500 engine that I have on the workbench and I wish to test it before I put it back in the car just incase something is wrong. My question is how do I wire it up so I can start it on the bench. Any help and advice would be great Thanks Gary

You'll need some way of turning it over, such as an empty transmission case with a starter motor on it. Then you just need to wire the coil positive to the battery with an alligator clip so that you can take it off easily to shut down the engine. Use a pair of jumper leads to connect the starter motor to the battery, and you can bridge current to the starter solenoid either by using a screwdriver or with another wire and an alligator clip. Make sure it's a sturdy bench, or alternatively start it on the floor.
