How much do you torque the mount onto the gearbox? Thanks

18 ft/lb

These are about $90, I find them good and a bolt on. Heaps better than a strap.

Cheers
I have had mine for years. Was made and sold in South Africa by a guy I new - he was into drag racing a buggy. Brought it with when I immigrated.

Matt, just a quick question on the pic you posted, the bolts holding the mount to the frame horn
Are they just studs welded to the frame horn with acorn nuts? or are they bolts with threads tapped into the horns or nutserts?

I had a home made midmount on my rota bug
It just had tags welded to the sides, rough as guts but scrap metal is free and worked just as well 😂

It's not actually through bolted at all Joel. The domed nuts are the stud that retains the urethane bump stop, it's a usually a tight fit just pressing against the frame horns. The load here is rotational but mostly up, so the bushes do the job the same as the Berg mount, but no welding required to fit....easy. 👍

I ran my first one with a little sceptisim, but it worked for me and a few others I've fitted, for under $100 and quick to fit, coupled with a HD rear cradle and strap, with urethane rear mounts and springplate bushes and good frame support, you have a very reliable soft mounted engine and trans thats good for 160+ rwhp.

That pic above is from a 1915 powered car that upgraded to one, the original front mount was trashed prematurely using front and rear straps. I find the stock front mount fine with one of these and double the hp.

I think I got mine from Jeff Unwin when he was in Sydney - about 12 years ago I think. It is a similar setup to what Joel has - the tabs are certainly welded to the tuning forks.

Yes Jeff, I used to make and sell the same at Volksrestore, but I find the convenience of the new style without the weld in brackets worth it.

Cheers Matt, so simple yet effective

Where you getting hold of those?
