Hi

My dad is restoring my 71 super bettle after she caught fire😠

He has been looking for a replacement harness for her (Doris) but can't find any RHD ones on the internet as alot of them come from USA. Can anyone suggest where to get a replacement harness as the one in the car has millions of joins in it, including main harness. Can get one for $100 second hand but not full harness. Dad would prefer new one as i am moving about 6 hrs away from home in January.

Thanks😎

THERE USED TO BE SOMEONE MAKING THEM A FEW YEARS AGO.. in Queensland from memory..

Very Expensive...

as they are hand made using the correct colored wires....

I haven't seen anyone else advertise wiring looms...

Hi, my advice is get right one for your vw 1971... you can use others but lot of time is required to get things working... good luck

european shops should have the right loom for you, will probably cost more than a wee bit though

Very sorry to hear about a VW fire! There is a place in Melbourne who reproduce looms (they did one for my brother's Riley). Have no idea whether they can do a VW or what they charge (being hand made they won't be cheap) however I will try and get current info with a phone number on Wednesday (Tuesday is Melb Cup day and many businesses shut down on Monday as well to get a nice long weekend)
Cheers.....Wayne

Hi grubb. People in Melbourne are called Classic Wiring Looms. Their phone number is 03 97370101. As they don't have a VW loom in stock they would need the old one to reproduce it. Cost would be in the vicinity of $700. As I said above, not cheap. If it was mine I would be looking at a good second hand one. If your Dad is up for repairing the damaged loom, you can usually get colour coded cabling from a later model car (doesn't need to be a VW) at the wreckers fairly cheaply.
Cheers.Wayne
