I brought a new car that came with a roadie, car looks grand and i was happy. Had the car noteven a week when i took a mate for a drive. When i braked it swung to the left so badly i was lucky not to hit a parked car.
I had to go away for the weekend(happened on thrusday) so i droped it of the the mech and said have a look (i thought a sticking piston) and fix, while u have it go over the car and see if theres any little thing that need doing as its going to be my eldests first car.
Yesterday he rings me up saying he will not let me take the car as it is that defective!!!!! two pages long is the list of stuff , some minor but a lot of major.
So the roadie is worthless, my questions are what real options do i have??? as i see it i have a car a payed good money for that is worthless and i'm going to be sharfted for the bill to fix. I have spoken to the person i brought it from and i honestly belive he had no idea. If i go to main roads i will lose the car while it is sorted which will mean court cases etc and f**k knows how long thats going to take. I would be happy just for them to cover the cost to fix the car but i refuse point blank to take it back to the shop that did the roadie in the first place !!!!
really need some help with this as i now have no transport(its not safe to drive as it is) not a lot of money and to be honest i feel totaly pissed off and angry that someone would do this and risk the life of others with such bad work..
thanks

I'd be back to the bloke who did the "roadie" so fast I'd look like a blur, tell him it goes to the authorities if he dosn't do something abvout it, may be a bluff but that's what I'd be doing. These bastards have to be sorted out, maybe the RACQ can help, from what you have said you could get e cheap ricer for what it will cost to fix, get it sorted then sell the ricer.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross a road without being asked for it's motive!
That threat should work!
any investigation would prove that the roadworthy was fraud and can lead to them losing their rwc licence and even recieve jail time (which is common). it is a BIG DEAL!

RACQ are just travel/insurance agents these days. The days of them being a motor advocate are long gone. Talk to the roadworthy issuer and tell him what happened. If he acts like an ahole, go to main roads licencing. What sort of dollars are we talking about here.
Customer service is not dead in Australia.

What is the vehicle?
Was the car purchased/roadworthy done locally?
Smiley 😎
If you said I was a Volkswagen man, you'd be right.
I'm not going to go into to much detail just yet as i have spoken to the person who did the roadie and i am trying to get something worked out. My mech is doing up a quote to put right and we'll go from there.
i will say that the person who did the roadie wants to do the right thing, they have not acted like a twat, agreed that something has to be done. No figures have been put around as of yet and he gave me his account of why its why it is and did say if i was local he would get it in and fix it. he did offer to send parts up but i only had a rough list and as i said to him i payed X amount for this car i will NOT spend one cent more in regards to roadworthy standard of which he totlay understood. I am hoping and praying we can work it out as the car is a nice one and the basics are good its just the mechanical thats not right. He is of the understanding that if this can not be worked out (cost/parts/labour etc and with it beign done up here) i will put it into the hands of mainroads.
I took over a 100 pictures of the faults today and yea some of them are very minor and to be honest i wouldnt have spat but theres a fair few and a lot of majors issues. its all nothing that cant be fixed quite easily but still i brought a roadworth'd car thats not roadworthy and i dont see why i should foot the bill..
its not a local car to me and the roadie was done by previous owner in there area.
RACQ can do a full inspection if needed that is suitable for use in court, more money mind.

Have you ever looked closely at a roadworthy/ pink slip..
You may have seen the disclamer where it is signed.
I certify that the the report is a true record of the vehicles compliance with the inspection standards of the Rules for authorised inspection stations at the time of inspection. "AT TIME OF INSPECTION" at least in NSW
I totally agreed a road worthy should be done properly but.
Here a few examples of for everyone to think about.
Bald tyres - Whats stop the owner swaping the good tyres to baldys or 20inch rims etc when he gets home.
Oil leaks - Can of degreaser before rego no oil leak drive home oil leaking again.
Lights - Can blow any time.
Windscreen - cracks again could happen on drive home.
Suspension - Bit harder but loweing blocks come out for rego on the fully sick hilux mini truck go back in when back home.
Anything no standard but bolt on - off for rego straight back on.
So anyone doing roadworthys i suggest you buy a camera with time and date function and take photos to cover your ass.
Depending on what is wrong with your car as to wether it was picked up for rego. Worn out steering suspension or leaking brake components major rust would be a big concern and no excuse to be missed.
I would suggest you see how many kms the vehicle has done since roadworthy and think could this have happened in distance traveled.
There are dodgy rego guys out there just like there are dodgy car owners.
Good luck with it i hope you can get it sorted out. What sort of car is it anyway.
its a beetle..
yes i know somethings can be swoped out/go worng etc and i have said this to them. the engine has a couple of oil leaks and i have already said i am not bothered by them
the major stuff is not something that could have been swoped out, they have been in the bad condiditon they are for a while.
i do get that roadworthy stations can miss bits and are at the mercy of the clients and that when they see it the car mite be fine and then they go swop a heap of parts off the car. this is not the case with this one, there is no way as road dirt etc has not been disturbed at all,oil stains are present etc etc etc..

If its the suspension steering etc i would continue to persue it these things should be right it and if he didnt do his job well hopefully after this he will from now on.
I'm sure there a people on this forum that would be willing to do a independent inspection if you needed it.
Good Luck with it
