ctp prices last year online managed to get a better price shopping around.this year the price quoted and what i ended up paying worse off .renewal said$516.00 price i paid with the required clean driving licence $690..00 they and other insurance companies refused to discount this amount unlike previous years. anyone else have the same problem?.
i feel like they were price fixing this year they seemed to know i would not get a better deal elsewhere stating that was the best price available.😬😬
despite the price on my renewal😬😬

Dude, that's really expensive! That's more than a year of SA rego which includes the CTP insurance!
I didn't think shannons did ctp?
Good shit eh it is so much cheaper than it used to be when we used to pay one amount for third party and reg'n together so the govt made it cheaper by privatising it now our third party costs more than the reg'n used to including it.Not only that we also pay a third party levee to pay for those people who aren't theoretically covered by third party because the courts decided the driver who was at fault wasn't.This means the insurance co doesn't pay but you do .You work that out.

barls
I got shafted aswell i was on the rta site and got a quote but the pricks wouldnt honour it because the rta hasnt updated their pricing. So i feel your pain OP.
Ha and iv got 3 play cars and 2 work vans. -$$$$$. 👎
I got my toys insured with Shannons and theyl only do greenslips if your insured with them.
I have MY Beetle insured with NRMA classic car insurance and every year when I receive My CTP green slip from the NRMA
it has charged Me the same as a non comprehensive insured car.
in 2006 the bill said $467.93 and I paid $226-88
in 2008 the bill said $487.92 and I paid $264-35..
in 2010 the bill said $524-31 and I did pay that before checking it out.. and got a refund of $211-08 as the slip should have said $313-23
now this happens every year...
and if I didn't check it out... they would let Me pay the higher figure..
The NRMA insurance [green slip] says that NRMA classic insurance isn't on NRMA computers so it doesn't show the car being insured.. which makes a huge difference...

Yep it keeps getting worse. The government raises the levy each year $50 or so, and the insurance companies raise the premium by $100. It's a terrible system.
The insurance companies are price fixing their policies with one another. If this was in any other industry it would be illegal, but since the government get's their slice of the pie (ie the levy) then they look the other way.
Thats not rust, it's ah ... orange primer ... yep that's what it is ...
NRMA will always send out the full price premium on the renewal. You have to chase them up for your 60% no claim. They do this as probably 50% of people (especially compny vehicles) would just pay it.
NRMA CTP plus a few other insurance companies now also cover the driver..
which is a good thing... to have..

i did go for the cheaper quote they refused to issue me with the lesser amount stating that i did'nt have full insurance
i have never claimed a single cent in 23 years how am i a bad risk why was i treated this way ?i made several attempts with 4 insurance companies to find the reason 1 said we don't need to discount every 1 will charge you the same the age of the vehicle etc.....
with the extra money you paid for your green slip you could of insured you car for full comprehensive and paid for a discounted green slip. Instead of just paying way to much for a green slip and not getting anything extra for it.
I just paid $353 for my green slip through Shannons and my full comprehensive insurance for my 1956 beetle that is insured for $14,000 cost me $242 for the year and pretty sure it doesn't go on the age of the car it goes on the age of the driver, driver good or bad driving record & driver at fault accidents.
I did notice on my green slip under youngest driver age range was 30 to 42 yrs so it must get cheaper when you get over 42
So I wonder if it will be cheaper next year.😂😂
Does a stat dec cost any thing to do?
I need to do one for my engine as the guy I bought it off didn't give me a receipt of purchase and I lost his contact.

When I got my greenslip renewal a few months ago, it was nearly $500. I went on the the site to get quotes, and they were all within a few dollars. I then noticed that Shannons were doing greenslips if you were insured with them (which I am) - cost me about $350 - saved about $150. I was pretty happy with that.
From your ole' mate Jeff

I just received quote for 7 laid up VW's and one daily driver, not quite 40 (the driver not the car ) 1 point off license, no claims in last 10 yrs and I think I was fairly modest with the value of my Dubs...total amount for 12 months comprehensive insurance with salvage rights on all but VR6 golf.....$1038.57 good old Shannons, some times it pays to shop around but I can relate to some of the issues mentioned above...especially nrma, happy to smile and take your hard earned, still smile like a lizard on a rock even when they are overcharging like hemorrhaging bulls. Just mention that you will take your business elsewhere and they might change their tune. 👍
How many is enough?
I also switched to Shannons for my CTP this year, as it was the cheapest by far. Yes, I a have comprehensive insurance with them too.

Hi Jeff
My CTP Green Slip was $313 with the NRMA...
it was $524 if the car wasn't fully insured...
I don't think it has to be insured with the NRMA...
and as I'm insured with NRMA CLASSIC & Vintage insurance
it doesn't show I'm insured... [every year] lol
cheers

if you don't have full comprehensive then you should not be on the road IMO
