Name : Dave Sidery Location : Morningside, QLD, 4170, Australia, Planet Earth Description : - Single Side Plate beetle gearbox (aka L-bug box) - Close ratio Albins gear set 3.55/2.0/1.40/1.0 - 4.125 crown wheel and pinion - Quaife diff with T2 output splines - T2 drive flanges (T2 CV's are MUCH stronger than T1 CV's) - Built by 'dangerous' Dave Butler, and only done around 1000km (mix of track and street) - Filled with Redline synthetic gear oil Price : $4000 Contact method : PM, e-mail DaveSidery@hotmail.com or handheld talking device 0412 181 561 The blurb : This is the gearbox I used to run in Jezebel, and is a brilliant box for circuit and tarmac rally stuff (now run a dedicated hillclimb box). It's also the nicest shifting Beetle gearbox I've ever driven. The Quaife diff is what's known as a Torque Biasing Diff... driving around normally you don't even know it's there... there's none of that juddering effect you get from a friction type LSD. In the wet, low traction or when cornering hard it's brilliant - gives a lot more traction and makes handling more predictable, with no real change to oversteer/understeer of the car. The T2 output splines make the whole thing pretty damn strong compared to a normal Quaife, a ZF etc. If you want to go racing or sprinting with a T1 powered IRS based car, this box would suit you perfectly. If you've looked into building a box you'll also know it's a good price... the parts alone will set you back a lot more than what I'm asking. I'd post pics, but really it looks like most any other gearbox. Oh, except it's painted blue... 😉

Hiya Sides, how do I contact Dave on here to find out if this box will be strong enough to handle the 300+hp im running with my 13bt in my 68 bug, the box i have in there now is only good for 150hp, currenly having turbo highflowed and winding up the boost. Going to need help real soon.
