But the question is Stanely.......did it take an instant or a while to produce those chips?
Lets just say I can find better ways to spend a weekend. 😁
👍.........as long as it wasn't any of the internals getting together to do one of the instant jobs. (kah-bang!)
No worries Daimo...this was purely a planned modification.
score!
was wippying some long long long grass today, like 5+ foot long grass , prolly due to over 1400mm of rain sice February 😬 totally over it
anyways was weed wacking away and discovered a full set of tinware inc doghouse and tappet covers under the undergrowth 🤪
don't ask, as I won't tell.. was like finding the treasure under X marks the spot 👍 😂

Went to Jambo and checked out some cool rides.
Fitted up some GoPro's and raced it.
Discovered its slowly turning into a rocket ship.... final run at Mt Cotton was only 2/100'ths behind my best ever, and that's with having to back off for water on the track !!!

Well I made an exhaust setup so I could tuck it up just below the rocker cover, just got to put a tab on it to secure to a strap from the car, then some pot belly paint will do, then it should be good for a blue slip I hope.
Missus has become a little addicted to driving the stocka, but the inconsistent starter was a problem.
Sooo added a relay to it today, Awsome now!
washed it and drove it for a couple of hours after replacing the 8 year old battery (which finally wouldn't take a charge)

My accelerator cable was a little stiff, so I took it apart, cleaned out the cable tube, and re-assembled it all. It is great now.
From your ole' mate Jeff

Oh, and yesterday I repaired a broken throttle pedal, checked the tyres and took the baja for a blast.
Consequently, today I needed to pressure clean the mud off. 🙂😀

Changed the clutch cable and Bowden tube. 4 hours of "F" factors doing the job solo, but got it done.
Had to adjust the clutch pedal freeplay every couple of weeks. Thought I'd change the cable. Glad I did as the picture shows. This was in the Bowden tube. Compared the old cable to the new. There was about a 5mm difference in length. Cable was obviously stretching ready to break.
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is!
Ross came over and installed the 4" narrowed beam. Perfect fit with the shock towers fitting snuggly. The leafs will be ready in a couple days, and we can start assembling this baby. I imagine there wouldnt be too many 4" narrowed beams with needle bearings floating around... hopefully it will be worth all the effort.
Pulled the LH head and barrels to clean foam out from fins, guess I'm still in the honeymoon phase but I'm lovin not having to disconnect a billion sensors, EGR, pipework and 24 + headbolts! Bores are a little bit glazed but plenty of life left, think I dodged a bullet here😵

Nah, not honeymoon, that shit never gets old.
Replace the steering box yesterday with a new one of a good quality, TRW. Will test drive today and then can comment on Frosties post.
Also fitted 2 new longer seat belt stalks and today am playing with the passengers door opening rod as the circlip has obviously fallen off 😢

I thought rebuilding a VW would be cheap - Shit I was wrong, just don't let the wife know !!!!
Click here for my (slowy) modded 1961 Beetle build.
Coolio!
Cant believe how many hours this took with 4 sanding sessions and 5 coats of marine varnish but well chuffed with the results

Not coming to the show Dave??
Generator light came on in the beetle, and I spent 10 minutes taking a set of brushes out of a second hand generator I had, and fitting them to our ride.
All good, running fine. 10 minutes well spent.
Finally got a chance to give Bluey a wash and polish and a quick resync of the IDA's, ready for the trip to the show tomorrow.

Took the oval to my son's footy game and then to pic up a new toy... needless to say, my spokesmodel and his siblings were pretty excited about it all.
