Is there any better penetrative products than WD 40? I sprayed WD40 all over my hinge screws and the couple I have got out have no evidence of penetration.

the Brand is Wurth. (German, so you know it must be good)
the product is called Rostoff. (you can work out the translation)

Don't know if it is still available, but I used to use "Penetrene"... ah those were the days, when 2 bobs' worth of Penetrene lasted a lifetime and got into everything....oops, I've wandered off....

It would not be a bad bet that the active ingredient of WD40 is kerosene, mixed with a few carriers, emulsifiers and spray-mist additives....

Inox, best stuff for pentrating rust and a whole pile of other uses.

I work for a big australia wide food manufacturing compay and our maintenence department use this stuff extensively.

Inox is Aussie made and exported to the world.

http://www.ppc.au.com/category98_1.htm

http://www.aussieweld.com.au/product_pages/inox/inox.htm

You can buy it from most bulk bolt suppliers, I know these guys stock it:

BOLTS & INDUSTRIAL SUPPLIES PTY LTD
145 Evans Rd Salisbury 4107
(07) 3277 6944

or

BOLTS & INDUSTRIAL SUPPLIES PTY LTD
7 Pritchard Rd Virginia 4014
(07) 3865 6944

It comes in spray can, bottled or tinned. The un-pressurized stuff works great out of a universal spray pump likr the cheap ones you get from the supermarket.

If WD40 doesn't do it give Inox a go. You'll never use WD40 again. :thumb

Now that I think about it I've also seen INOX at super cheap auto. But it's cheaper from an Industrial supply house.

Wurth Rostoff is by far the best
Inox & Penetrene or Penetrol are the best generally available
Inox is the best multi purpose & doesn't hurt rubber/ neoprene etc like WD40 will
Wurth is not easy to get but most people in the trade use it
Please, I need drivers side window regulator (winder mechanism) for my '54

Put plenty inox or penetrene on... leave it sit a while. Put a large correctly sized screw driver in, one with the metal part right thru the head, give it a solid whack with a bigger than your average chippies hammer. If that does not loosen it, get a manual type impact driver, give it a whack with that. If that does not work, get a butane torch or oxy and heat the visible bit up as much as poss, then repeat the wacking bit.
if none of the above are successful, take a 20 litre drum of unleaded, pour carefully (you don't want to get splashed, it will ruin your complexion) thru the interior. Then take your local trading post paper and a trusty bic lighter, apply in the logical order, and presto, no more worries about frozen nuts or screws or whatever.
heheheh
they took me away haha, hope the medication works

Just thought I would add inox has a website

http://www.inox-mx3.com

It is Australian made stuff, you can buy it almost anywhere. Repco, autobarn, supercheap.... There is a big list of suppliers on their website.

maybe try spraying it from the other direction (from iunderneath?) I had to do that with my G'box nose cone which was pretty much dirt-welded together. After a few days of spraying from one side and not having much effect, i sprayed from the other and in about 24 hours... all is good!
