do you require it to fit a tunnel gearbox into an Oval or do you need it for a Splitty???

If your fitting a tunnel box into an Oval your better off welding in the proper front gearbox mount... much easier and will align better.
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

fitting into a splitty. The splitty had a trushift 5 speed and I want it to go back to a 4 speed.

5 speed? this then also had a rear axle mod? reduction gears removed?

the trushift 5 speed keeps the original front mount and rear axle setup and reduction hubs or an irs can be put in. The trushift gearbox gearcarrier housing is made by trushift and is a bit longer for the extra gear. the gearshift housing which holds the transmission selector is also changed and the position of the transmission selector is higher so the gearshift rod is higher so a universal joint setup is used. Thus the gearshift rod has been changed so I am going to try to get an original.

No the Beetle and Kombi nose cone shifter housing are different.

most people want them so as to mount a tunnel beetle box into an Oval chassis.

wow I was asking round a couple of years ago at mechs about getting a 5th gear in the splity, but they all said I'd have the change the axle...

bugger...how much does one of these setups cost and are all the ratios the same exept for the 5th gear?
