Yes - you need the following kit.

Either
Magfire (cheapest)
Compufire
Pertronix

Just make sure it fits your dizzy. The stock dizzies need a ring to make things work.

Give
V Force
Classic at Rydalmere
VVDS
etc etc a call

Points "should" be fine though if set up properly

PS
you also need to measure your coil's resistance. needs to be 3 Ω (ohms) to stop burning them up

I wouldnt pay any more than $150.

Are they burning at the contacts or just closing up. In this weather, if you don't make sure the cam lobes are covered in grease, the surface rusts and is very abrasive. Doesn't take long to wear the point rubbing block down and presto! no points opening and difficult or unable to start. Is that what's happening? A bit of grease and a check every month is far cheaper than the alternative of electronic for you.
