Hi peoples

I have a 73 BAJA Beetle and the oil light is not working I have tried 4 senders no luck so I don't think I is there.I have tried new globes and the glow and I have swapped fitting from the gen light which works with no luck

Now I don't know how the oil light works wether it cuts the earth when the pressure is up or it cuts the power when the pressure is up so please don't laugh at me when you read what I tried to sort this out. LOL

I ran a wire from the oil sender to where the blue wire goes on the light no luck.So I replaced the old wire and got a test light no power at the sender. if you look at the photo's below the first one is a wire that I found which comes from the loom where all the wires for the coil come from just hanging around the coil and I don't know where it goes does anyone know? Then went to the light in the speedo next photo is the light fitting with the test light on the blue wire when it is like this the test light and oil light glow very dim when I put it on the black wire the tester glows as normal so I am lost, can anyone please help me with this as I don't want to drive IGOR to long with out an oil light as he is my only car.

Thanks

Marc

marc,

ur mystery wire is most likely part of the computer diagnosis system

my 2 74s had one like that from memory its grey with green trace and hooked to the coil -ve

i used it for my tach wire save running a new one through the quarter panel which is a prick of a job
