I have heard of 'How to hot rod VW engines' and will be buying this one.

Any other recommendations?

chasing all the info to help me decide on engine combo/size/configuration/carburettion etc

obviously will be talking lots on forums, but i want to do some hardcore reading first.

any good sources of info please....

How to rebuild aircooled volkswagens by Tom Wilson, just covers stock rebuilds but has excellent tech info, another is High performance vw engine handbook, i think thats what it's called by Keith Sueme covers all high performance parts and also the Berg tech books. Cheers Damo.
This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

I'll second the Tom Wilson publication... even if you never intend to rebuild a VW engine, I still consider it a must for anybody who owns one. 😎

John Muir's Idiots Guide to VWs has an engine rebuilding section in it. I have no idea how comprehensive it is as I have never pulled a VW engine apart, let alone rebuilt one.
