1st and 2nd gear problems

hey people i hav problems with 1st and 2nd gear. 1st pop's out and the 2nd get stuck if selected while at stop. and also (sorry my english is not greate but i'll try to explain) is it normal that when you shift down gears to over take it grinds? is there anything i can do about it?

Sounds like a pretty major internal rebuild is in order, BUT.....

Have a look at your gear box bounts first incase the tranny is moving back and forth, causing your ailment.

havea look at the shift plate under the gear stick maybe its not fitted correctly or needs adjusting to the correct position

If you dont knoe how its susposed to go then take to a good VW shop for checking

then look at the gear shift universal joint under the rear seat

then look at the front and rear gearbox mounts etc etc

I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true
