Before I dive into it, I'd like to hear from those who have performed this seemingly difficult task without rooting the new rubber - what's your technique?
Cheers

...I just went through this....what a mission...
I used a blunt spreading knife and slowly pushed it in the aluminium extrusion being concious of stretching the rubber otherwise you end up with alot excess rubber in one spot.
Patience is a virtue 👍

KY Gel and strong fingernails.
Just take it slowly

So just edge it in bit by bit then huh? Is ky the best? Does talcum powder work? (keeping your minds out of the gutters here.....)
I suppose with the old seals, just tear em out - without damaging the aluminium of course?

The Aluminium is pretty stiff mate...so I'd suggest you can just pull them out.

Are you talking about the outer rubber or inner next to the glass?
take your time or you will tear the rubbers

plenty of silicon spray chris. make sure the join is at the bottom of the window.
Outers are way easier than the inners. Have fun mate!!👍

Just done it.

It took 25mins to install the first rubber into the frame, and 15mins installing the second rubber... no lube needed! Just a stubby flatty screwdriver!

much easier with the channel sprayed with silicone spray, than dry as it lets you adjust the tension and not clump up as happens with a dry fit.

wow, that's intense! Glad I don't have to do the inners! I'm currently enlisting the help of Kilakornkobb to help me install the popouts, we got to the stage of drlling the holes into the pinch seam (or whatever it's called) but ran out of time, so we installed the original window back in - without string or lube mind you! So the pop outs will have to wait for another day.... I'll post up our step-by-steps in my Member's Rides when i complie it all...
wish me luck!

Soak all the rubbers in really hot water, this helps make them really nice and soft. Use no sprays or talc powder, keep up the hot water on each seal and take your time with a slightly sharpened end of a paint brush handle not super sharp but enough to push the rubber into the channel... you can also slightly keep tension on the rubber by pulling it length ways to allow it to stretch and pop into the channel...I had to do all the rubbers on my popouts, it takes time but try this way, no sprays or residue left that can effect the rubbers. Then last but not least leave the popouts in the sun to heat up and form nicely around the frame....hope this helps..
