Hi folks, please keep an eye out for my car, stolen last night Friday 18th from Manly. Standard beetle, grey interior, Golde steel sunroof, baby seat in the back. Hope it turns up unharmed up the road somewhere. Thanks Simon 0423 784 273

thats about the 4th or 5th one thats happened that way maybe people who have never driven a VW just want to go for a short ride and then dump the car

Hi

Your very lucky, what a scare. If your car has a fuel tank reserve lever there is a 1/2 way point were it cuts the fuel flow off, good anti theft device, ask me how I know.

Good to hear its back and all good.

It is fairly easy to start an early car, by bridging a wire to the coil, and either shorting the starter (not so easy on a VW!) or hot wiring..
I have always popped my rotor button out when I parked in the city in Melbourne, as most people trying to steal a car don't carry one of those for what ever they come accross.
I do the same thing here in the US now with my current car..
