won't be on the strip for a few months yet. I've been removing all the swaybars, bracing and "hillclimb" stuff off the car. There is also rust I need to fix before it can be registered.............. and I would like to get 145hp out of the 1916 before I hit the drags !

I'm going to try a pair of 48 idf's next to see if that will help produce some more top end power. (although I haven't played with the 44's yet !)

Look forward to hearing about the results Craig.

I put my sidewinder on the 58, as you know, but was suprised to hear it wasn't much quieter - the induction noise is still the loudest part of my car 😀

I've not had mine on the dyno - maybe this year though....

Nearly as much RWHP as my stock $1500 2.5L 100,000km+ jap motor, pretty good going for an almost 2L VW motor.

Just a question, where did the operator have the intake air temp sensor? It was reading less than the ambient temperature which is quite odd. Usually it is the other way around. A lower than actual intake temp reading will actually give you a lower HP reading as it doesn't fully correct for the actual (higher) air temperature.

Well done Craig. Great figures. Looking forward to reading how you get to 145. The IDA might just be that missing piece. Hope you can make the 23rd.

I recently rode in a Pobjoy 1916 powered type I. The chap that owns it was having lots of fuel pressure problems. Surging coughing and dying in the slightest change of slope. Anyhow with that sorted I was amazed with the torque and rev range it produced seemingly effortlessly. When I thought we were doing 60 the speedo was saying 100 (kph) and when i thought we were doing 100 the speedo was reading 160 (kph). It was an amazing afternoon.

What is required to run the twin plug heads ?
Can you only modify eliminator heads for twin plugs ?

nice hp but what gear ratio are u running in 4th gear... some 4 gears are like a 3rd on circuit cars ..makes a big difference on dynos,,😂

Hang on.... hold up... thats no rag top, nor evo.... So thats running a 1916 .... putting a sidewinder on this one now? What year is that.... the rear valance is unfamiliar...? :S


Also, that exhaust is better than my empi one, the pipe gets so small at the flange... 🙁
