GREEN was always OIL in early VWs...
RED was generator charge...
Later they changed them both to RED and eventually labelled them... due to US regulations..
If the green light is still the oil lamp...
NOT Good... replace the oil sender on the engine...
they cost under $10...
hopefully that may fix the oil pressure problem...??
If someone has switched the lamps in the speedo...
then the green lamp would be Generator charging...
which again is NOT good...
You have generator or regulator problems...
when the [normally red ] generator lamp comes on..
it means Your battery is NOT being charged...
LEE
Left Green Oil pressure lamp - Low or No oil pressure
Right Red generator charging/not charging/broken fan belt

I also had an orange light come on next to the indicator arrow (on the left of the arrow). My car is now running fine and starting after the engine has been stooped. However when I am going over 50kms the orange light still comes on faintly. Does this mean that I need to getr my alternator checked? I only got the battery installed this morning before I went to work.
If it is to do with the alternator, how much will or should it cost roughly to repair/replace?
If anyone can answer my qusetions that would be lovely.
been a long time since i was on here so hello everyone.
