I reckon there's not much you can do about it robb. It's usually the glue overspray on the inside of the liner from when it was fitted. Goes darker the older it gets. Can be rust from the bows that's seeped into the liner if the car's spent years out in the weather. In both cases the liner is stained so have never heard of a remedy.
If it's yellowed from cigarette smoke you've got a chance. I've got a cleaner that'll help that. pm me if you want some.
Cheers
Brad

If all else fails try vht vinyl dye and respray it. that stuff works wonders. I used it in my crumpledore (commodore) to change a few interior plastic parts to a completely different color. looks like factor now and does not come off unless I grind it off.

I have used the vinyl spray
It was when i had all the windows out so it was well ventilated

If your window rubbers are in good nick and you can pop your windows easily it is a great option if the only problem is the discolouring

Only possible issue with spraying the headliner is if you've got a perforated liner it blocks most of the holes and if you've got "black dot" headliner where what looks like perforations is actually black dots printed on the vinyl, you loose the dots.
That VHT vinyl spray is the goods though isn't it?
