Need a set of either NOS or near new 1500 (83mm bore) cylinders only. Someone must have a set of unwanted ones hanging around just collecting dust. Needed for a 1500 S engine.

If you are ever up this way Dallas, I have plenty of old used stuff that may fit your car.
Cant guarantee they are any good, but they are yours.
A whole rusty 1500 long engine from a beetle,(still turns)
and probably loose cylinder sand pistons....the shed is a mess, but if you come I will dig.

Thanks Dave. A trip to QLD is long overdue! Either later this year or early next year. Have to catch up with an old mate who moved from around Bracken Ridge to Sippy Downs.

Can't bore the pots OS as the pistons are NOS std 83mm so would be good if the cyls could just stand a light hone and still be within reasonable limits.

You know that and I know that BUT 😂

The engine is already a nice 1600 with only 12000 km on it which runs as sweet as so no need for more 1600 P and Cs. What I want to do is put the engine back to the original 1500 S configuration as I have the NOS dome top 8.5:1 pistons for it. Why? Because I'm an old fool reliving the teenager 60s era. 😂 The only thing I'll never go back to is 6 volt .... and Bugs! One was enough! 😵

The original domed piston 1500S was 66hp and the 1600 dual carb was 65 hp.... All for being Authentic to the vehicle you have. The imported cars have their own needs that many just do not understand... you need to see one in the flesh and you will realise how different and special they are.
Dallas, why not just go for a new1500 piston and cylinder set.... They are easier to find and you can just swap out the pistons.

That's what I'm after! New Cyls at least but if the pistons are there it doesn't matter... just something to stick under the bench to collect dust. The nearest I can find so far is good used ones from Peter Korsch at Gosford. NOS ones seem to be avoiding me. The car is about 96% original equipment, the only change is high backs on the seats.... for obvious reasons, the seat and lower door card covering material is cloth and engine has 1600 pots plus 12 volts.

As you most likely know, it's one of the last couple to survive in Australia, so it's worth keeping it as near to stock as possible including the stock original size engine which was as good as any 1600. Must be that one year only dizzy that makes it run well! And Britcher can't have it😂 yet!! Have you got any 83 pots in your stash Dyno??
